I disagree with Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty at the bottom, I thought they were great guardians to Scootaloo with the little screentime that they got, that to me was more than enough. I also find it funny that Chrysalis is in the good tier even though she intentionally starved her subjects, i.e. her own children.

Precisely the problem. I think it was that point where they realized, “Oh, we need to address Scootaloo’s family at some point. Wait, what do you mean we implied she has an abusive and negligent household. Uh, uh, quick, give her really sweet guardians to make up for that!”

Very likely Hasbro was hesitant to portray a negligent family, which is a shame. I think it could have been a good lesson; that some parents are just… bad parents. And some kids have to endure that.

This could be the case, but I feel like their inclusion was more of a retcon to Scoot’s backstory. Part of what always bothered me about it. I wouldn’t have minded if there was no Aunt Holiday and Aunt Lofty, and Scoots had just been left to fend for herself by uncaring parents. However, we see in the episode they’re introduced in that, regardless of what Scoots said previously, they’re openly supportive of her and do care. Literally the first thing Holiday says is open support for Scoots, when she tries to claim she can’t take credit for another pony getting their Mark.

Is it stupid? Yeah kinda. However, that’s the nature of retcons. You need to look at the latest instance - when Holiday and Lofty were introduced - and use that going forward, since the previous instances are obviously contradictory. Scoot’s backstory was always one of the show’s weakest points, since they so frequently implied abuse and neglect, but then place her in the care of two caring aunts. Do I think they’re perfect? Hell no. If they were, they would’ve confronted Scoot’s parents long ago about how their daughter clearly felt. But instead they cared for her like their own, because it was the only thing they felt they could do. However, I don’t think for a second they were bad guardians for Scoots.

Now, some say that Aunt Holiday and Aunt Lofty make the perfect parents, but I disagree.

They’re nowhere to be seen when Scootaloo gets her Cutie Mark or when she does her report is just awful. To me, they’re just as bad as Snap and Mane.

Not to mention Scootaloo said in the episode Parental Glideance “ Growing up, I never thought I’d be the best at anything, because nopony ever told me.” This could indicate that she has badly neglected by all four ponies.

This is why Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles make the perfect parents for Scootaloo.

Sure while they somtimes go overboard with their support towards Rainbow, their hearts are in the right places and at least they’re actually there for her.

If they did the same thing but with Scootaloo, that would have been great.

To me, it was completely unnecessarily to bring Snap, Mane, Hoilday and Lofty into the show.

Bow, Windy and Rainbow are Scootaloo’s REAL family.

As Kyle Broflovski from South Park said “Family isn’t about whose blood you have in you, family is about the people who cared about you and took care of you.”

Sure they’re not the same blood, but Rainbow loves her little sister. And so do Bow and Windy.

Sorry can you explain what exactly Lofty and Holiday did to earn F tier?

Why the hate for Holiday and Lofty? They actually gave a shit and cared for Scoots when her own parents basically bailed. Also, Celestia might be “Equestria’s Mom” but she isn’t actually a mother, I don’t believe.
