I know I’m nitpicking, but this is too common of a habit for commonwealths. A name is less interchangeable than the word it’s based on.

Ya thought I was a yank. Cute.
No, not especially, ya’ right blighter. Bloody yanks. X3
God knows, if we have Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling there will be a Princess Cheeto.
Because Cadence is supposedly the only version in the dictionary commonly used for most spell check features, Google, iOSs, etc. will spell Princess Cadance’s name according to Hasbro save one letter. Similarly, searching for Futae no Kiwami results in KnowYourMeme because they have the same initials: KYM.
I think close to 50% of the fandom spells her name “Cadance”, actually, but it does seem people who rank her as one of their favorite characters are also more likely to use “Cadence” for some reason, and since they’re also more likely to draw/write about her…
Before the S02 finale? I’d imagine that’s true… :j
Totally.
Early on there was some confusion, but I think over the past two years, over 90% (probably over 95%) of the official materials/toys have spelled her name “Cadance”, so I think it’s safe to say that’s the correct spelling of her name. Yes, it’s a misspelling of “cadence”, likely to make it easier to trademark and protect, but there’s no rule that a pony’s name has to be constructed out of genuine words and/or names. (“Scootaloo”, anyone?)
Well, anypony who uses spell check on their browser already knows Princess Cadance’s name has always been misspelled by every Hasbro affiliate. Know not if it’s a real name, and not recognized by the current dictionary, or if it’s an urban name or… :T
So they… misspelled it?
…
the entire second paragraph (the authentic cadance sings with the “authentic cadence”) is the pun. they just didn’t spell it the exact same way as the musical term.
Well I knew about that. But what’s the Cadence/Cadance pun about?
Sorry, that was meant for @thps48; I don’t know where the idea that this was about how the British spell cadence came from.
talking to me?
@Background Pony #A4DE
I know. You were saying that’s not how Brits spell Cadence.
Britt McKillip was not credited in “A Canterlot Wedding”. For “The Crystal Empire”, the character’s name was spelled “Princess Cadence” in the credits, but in every episode since where she’s credited, it’s “Princess Cadance”.

Searching for “cadance” or “cadence” in the My Little Pony section of Hasbro’s main website brings up the same 11 results, but in each result “Cadance” is used for her name.
Enterplay is a second party. Hasbro Inc. spells “Cadance” on their first-party shit, and legal or whoever consults everyone they commission, but I still know not what DHX said in the credits for CW.
Hasbro Inc. spells it that way. Hasbro Studios never wrote it out on screen… Maybe in the credits, but haven’t checked. :T
