Indeed. The Standard Model is best listened after listening to the first 6 (and one more bonus Derpy song which I cannot find anywhere), the final song sounds so touching and nostalgic, it always brings me back to when I first got into FiM.
 
Not to sound like a pussy, but the song made me shed tears EVERY damn time.

There is a deep, almost weep-worthy connection throughout The Standard Model, the music has something powerful within, something so tangible yet too alien to put into words. Nonetheless, both heart and soul comprehend, contemplate, and embrace emotions the sings evoke, and for a while I am completely overwhelmed. Sometimes I cry because of the sheer joy and nostalgia I feel, but even if I don’t, any part of The Standard Model will see to it that I am at least aware of a new perspective of things long after the music has concluded.
 
To put it simply, the album is purely magical.

While not particularly enthralled by any of the other ones, they are better examples of music and they are not bad at all. Quite honestly, not missing out on anything but I wouldn’t slap you for saying you like this. In the meantime, I’m sticking with more bebop.

The Standard Model is, well, a standard of brony music. Its fresh approach to microsampling (actually inspired in itself by PinkiePieSwear), instrumentation, and rhythm has influenced other musicians, and it has an emotional impact that espouses what drives people into MLP stuff in the first place. If you like PinkiePieSwear, jazz, or IDM, you are missing out. You are very missing out.

You really should listen to the whole series. The Standard Model is the finale that ties together all of the earlier parts.  
Start with Flutterwonder, Your Faithful Student, A Beautiful Heart, Pinkie Pie Swear, In History Maybe (optionally, you can listen to What Went Wrong here), and On My Own before Standard Model.
