The only thing this proved was that some shipping teases in the show are intentional. They aren’t magically unaware of some of the interpretations of their dialogue are shipping teases.
 
This by no means makes this ship canon. Its a good ship, but it is not a canon couple because of this.

Psh, I don’t trust them at all. Sometimes they make a winner, but frequently they do not. Sadly, when it comes to corporate deadlines and forced toy integration, a love for the art of storytelling often has to end up sidelined.

Who’s getting defensive? I just see people getting upset by taking something more serious than is intended and not a big deal even if it is intended. I’m not really a big shipper myself but I think that there’s benign fun to be had in shipping and joking about shipping being canon that some people are missing out on.

Lol like I said, people in this fandom don’t recognize a little teasing. I don’t think the majority of people are taking this as evidence that their ship is “winning”. They’re just fangasming a little at most, and usually just joking about it.

It’s all the same; someone points to something as evidence, other people get mad. This is just getting particularly large backlash because I’m assuming people feel as though this is nearing conclusive enough to put their preferred cartoon horse love in danger. It was a tongue in cheek statement, but the Appledashers say “haha the show’s on our side” and it incenses Derpibooru because some people are delusional enough to be afraid that McCarthy and the Appledashers are for real.  
Basically this is all just people getting defensive because they’re worried that it jeopardizes their ships when it’s really just a big joke. It’s actually really pathetic; the fandom looks a lot sadder to me now than it did before.
 
Truly when it comes to shipping wars, whoever wins, we lose.

I feel like people in this fandom don’t get a little light teasing when they see it. I know I personally just like rustling jimmies a little when it comes to shipping because people get so angry if you say “x shipping is canon now”. Yeah I know that this doesn’t mean anything and that Meghan is just joking around. Its fun to act like its serious because people’s reactions are so strong.

Looks like the appledashers are praising Megan waaaaay too much. Just because of a small scene and this tweet, they immediately assume that it’s actually canon! No wonder the world’s going to waste. People can be so gullible.
