It’s called a shout-out. Just like the “I’m so excited” thing in “Inspiration Manifestation” doesn’t mean MLP has anything directly to do with Saved by the Bell. Or “As Celestia is my witness, I’ll never be [x] again!” doesn’t make the whole show a ripoff of Gone With the Wind. In this case, someone writing a comic in which Nightmare Moon returns independent of Luna made a small nod to the fact that s/he isn’t the only one ever to do so.
