Sure wish we had seen how Twilight’s spell turned her feathered Alicorn wings into the fairy-like Breezie wings…

My impression is that the spell must use a particular species for reference, since Twilight had to focus a magic beam on Seabreeze before hitting the girls with it. So as long as she has a willing reference and subject, she can rearrange their DNA into whatever the reference’s species was.

The answers to many of those questions are left to the artist or writer using the spell. This is why I liked this episode: the wealth of new toys to play with. Not in the sense of “buy our crap,” but in the sense of “it was on the show; what can I do with it?”

so celly and luna can change anything into anything and possibly create new creatures..  
makes a lot of sense.

That part made me wonder what the limitations of Twilight’s species conversion spell are. Like, could she turn other creatures into a pony? Can she only do sapient creatures, or could she literally take Gummy and make him a griffon?
 
Can she do monsters? Could she turn like Queen Chrysalis into a pony, or herself into a changeling or Rarity into a Windigo? Can she do alicorns? Could she turn Applejack into a unicorn, or vice-versa?
 
Seriously, I puzzled over this for like an hour. What if she turned Dashie into a gryphon, Dashie got busy with Gustave Le Grande, got pregnant, turned back into a pony, and gave birth?
 
What if she turned Pinkie Pie into a parasprite, Pinkiesprite reproduced, and then she turned the two back into ponies?
 
Can she do hybrids, like with Flutterbat? Could she make a half-dragon half-pony? Could she control the percentage of hybrid, like take just enough changeling to gain shapeshifting powers, but not enough to turn into an emotion eating monster? Can she pick what hybrid attributes she wants, or is it like Jade Cocoon?
 
If all she needs is an example of whatever creature she wants to turn a pony into, does she need a living example? Could she use dinosaur bones to make an Applesaurus Rex?
 
What if she turned herself into a dragon, lived well beyond her natural lifespan, and then turned back into a pony? Would she drop dead on the spot or just pick up where she left off? How long does the spell last, is it permanent unless reversed or does it wear off in time?
