The same could be said of any grand finale that doesn’t kill off or break up the cast. Whatever you do to end the status quo necessarily creates a new status quo full of new stories to tell. At some point you just have to say “that’s all there is; there ain’t no more,” and Twilicorn would have been as good a stopping point as any. Not that I’m complaining that they’re keeping the show going for now.

Also, I’m guessing that your view of alicorns and tying them into “Mary Sues” is because of the popularization of characters like Nyx and Ticket, as well as a pervasive culture within this fandom that reacts almost near-universally negatively to alicorn OCs.
