It’s sort of unsaid in the show that AJ is nearly obsessive with putting in hard work to the point of her collapsing on the ground before taking it easy. Even if she ate well, spending long hours in the sun most of the week going at it would burn off most if not all of her fat. Her metabolism would be quite high, making her more lean.
 
On the other hand, if AJ isn’t pushing her body that hard and her work load is more of a causal route like other non-desk-active jobs, then she wouldn’t get a lot of muscle and her frame won’t stand out as much.

Thank you. DC/Marvel/Sports Illustrated-style definition isn’t a thing unless you follow super-specific exercise routines toward that end. Or you’re a four-color mutant/experiment/curiously humanoid alien.

As I understand it, working normally isn’t going to burn off all your fat unless you don’t get enough to eat, and farmers usually do. So muscles with a layer of fat is the most realistic result, not a sixpack and sharp toning.

As ever, this fella cranks out an adorable Willowshy. Pinkie seems properly manic as well.

I do have to wonder why some expect ‘their’ humanizations to carry out each episode-anecdotal task in precisely the same manner their pone-selves would. Who says Human!RD isn’t a stock-car racer or fighter jock? What’s keeping the Apples from hitting up John Deere(C) to cut down their field-toiling hours? Besides the artist’s headcanon, if any.

Well if the artist was actually going by the show the mane 6 aside from Twilight would all be the same size.
 
But if people are going to make human interpretations might as well not go too much against the canon of the show. Ex: Twilight being the smallest character won’t make any sense at this point; AJ having the body structure where she couldn’t maneuver well and run in a race is a poor decision in favor of a redneck stereotype; a very fat Rarity makes no sense considering how she guards her appearance, etc.
