What are you talking about?
There were most certainly drama in these comments.
Derpi, did someone get on your case because you don’t know what words mean again?
People like to imagine that the targets of their rage don’t appreciate it because they’re “losing the debate”. In many cases, it’s actually because they’re spraying insults by the bucketload and bring up pre-ignored catchphrases to ridicule them, instead of actually participating in any debate or attempting to understand what their targets are saying.
@Background Pony #82BF
Actually, that’s how people use it to attack those they deem “warriors”, much like many other strawman arguments which are invoked in response to entirely different statements.
@Dawn Blast
Goes both ways. If people actually wanted to “fix” people, they’d show some sympathy when they were doing it. Instead, the usual routine is to describe every thing they say, do, and think (along with many things they don’t), in the most overblown “evil” way they can think of, to target them with endless ridicule and hate, and otherwise try to hurt them as much as possible.
Yeah. if it was a Real “Trigger” They’d be trying to get it Fixed instead of using it as a emotional crutch.
The way I see it:
Standard definition of “Trigger”: Something that starts a flashback of traumatic or frightening events.
SJW definition of “Trigger”: A magical word that makes people who disagree with me disappear.
Triggers, as they were originally defined, were things that gave you flashbacks to traumatic events.
Tumblr, being the selfish brats they are, used them as an excuse to weasel out of arguments and grab attention.
and “Triggered” as a meme is used to mock SJWs when they throw a hissy fit because they’re losing a debate.
I think the most SJW-like quality of Starlight Glimmer’s is her apparent view that equality has to be forced. You can see plenty of tumblr users whining about how small forms of progress “aren’t good enough” and that ALL minority groups MUST have ALL privileges. A noble cause, yes, but it just doesn’t work that way, especially seeing as most of the people on the top are the ones who tend to hold bigoted views.
I especially see this in the LGBT side of tumblr, and as a bisexual man, this disturbs me. It’s not uncommon to see progress in the LGBT community get responses of “Ugh, why are the cis white gay men getting all the attention? Check your gay male privilege!” (no joke, there are SJWs who think gay men are privileged over straight women) and complaints over the bit parts of same-sex relationships in modern television (the infamous “Good Luck Charlie” thing, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, Korra and Asami not being permitted to kiss onscreen, etc.), ignoring the fact that, like I said, a lot of the people who decide if this stuff airs will not let it air due to their own prejudices and no one ever gained equality overnight; it happened gradually, over many years and most importantly with a lot of hard work on the part of the oppressed classes.
TL;DR: The only SJW quality I saw from SG was her expectation to have equality just be given to her (a quality that I wish wasn’t so common among SJWs); otherwise she mostly came off as a communist which I think is what they were going for.
[bq=”Niggoslav_Krawczyk”]@Background Pony #3F65 But they already have one! Unless…you want to combine them! >>826592
The “Commie Nazis” thing is somewhat eyebrow-raising, as I’ve heard people accuse them of being both “Marxist” and “fascist”. Evidently, the people who hate “them” aren’t entirely sure whom they hate or why.
Well, they’re quite certain of the hypothetical “why” that they bring up in their accusations, but that’s not much help for finding the real-world “why” that triggers them.
That’s why I brought up “CommieNazis”.
Communists are bad. Nazi are bad. They’re both bad, but they’re both mutually exclusive.
Similarly, SJWs and bad and Equalist are bad, but when it comes to diversity, they are quite opposed.
Virtually none of the accusations levied at her are actually unique to a certain faction’s political enemies. They whole thing amounts to numerous variants of “she’s evil” which can be applied to any ideology if someone hates it enough. But when it comes to Starlight Glimmer’s own specific ideology and behavior:
She hates people who stand out like “special snowflakes” and wants to make them as indistinguishable as possible by shaming them into hiding anything that makes them different.
She thinks that her philosophy is the only valid way to live, and if someone rejects it, her response is to force it on them and bombard them with constant messages about how they should accept mediocrity and sameness “for their own good”.
Despite the focus on sameness, she has no problem singling out people she doesn’t like to be treated as “lesser” than the herd.
She hates it when her followers express unhappiness. She expects them to constantly cover up their feelings with massive grins and a feigned “pleasant” attitude instead of admitting that they’re upset.
She takes something basically good and makes it look like an evil thing which must be destroyed, by focusing exclusively on an extremely specific exaggerated “bad” version of it (which in some cases is a genuine problem) whenever it’s mentioned. Her followers are so indoctrinated that they have trouble understanding any less harmful version of it, and instead dogmatically repeat her rhetoric, even when it clearly doesn’t apply to the specific thing they’re responding to.
She’s trying to fix something she describes as a problem using the exact sort of behavior she opposes, to the point of acting blatantly condescending and self-important even when she’s in the process of complaining about the condescending, self-important attudes of “special” ponies. When called out on her hypocrisy, she mostly repeats the same rhetoric without really addressing counterarguments, which is quickly reduced to simply expressing hatred and ridicule towards anyone who asserts that her perceived enemy might not be as universally bad as she makes them look.
So… yeah. If Starlight went on a rant about the “social warriors” coming to her peaceful happy community and ruining everything with their mean sugar-coated special snowflake sanctimony, it wouldn’t seem out of character.
To say nothing of the hilariously aggressive mouthpiece campaign to try and force male bronies to think in exactly the same way they do. I wish this episode had come out a year or two earlier.
I bet these people think Equal Fights wasn’t referring to them either.
She gets the accusations because that’s how stereotypes work. People who believe them see tiny surface-level resemblances, and respond by applying all of their carefully-cultivated hatred and rage to the target as if it were synonymous with everything they’ve ever hated.
Given the specifics of her philosophy and behavior (as opposed to all the variants of “she’s evil and wrong”), she actually has more in common with people who use the slurs than with the people they bully.

Yea, no, screw off back to your hugbox, fumblrina.
@Takashi.0 @Green Horse @Psyga315 Yarly, how’s this any different from Commieteo and Pinkopony?
That was also my point, did a little backtracking there.
Any which way, Starlight should be the new mascot for sjw.
And yet you used anecdotes yourself.
Anyway, that is a great reaction pic.
Yay, hits all of the triggers.
Everyone I’ve had any kind of contact with were/are exactly like her mindset.
But then anecdotes aren’t really much proof either way.
