I’ve kind of been wondering about how the whole thing started, too. I just saw something like half the site was changing their usernames, so I took the chance to fix mine (I did not know Derpi allowed spaces in usernames when I signed up, you see), but I’m not sure what prompted it all in the first place.

You really should have paid attention before doing that then. I mean a mod could ‘fix’ it, but still…

I really hate ships that exist just to ship. Which is why I’m not a huge fan of crackships.

It does. Just like how RariSpike and MarbleMac have reasons to exist as well. I’m not saying these are good ships, but the two characters have had some from of interaction and/or relationship, thus it makes sense why the ships exist. Same goes for StarTrix, even if both don’t share any romantic relationship with one another.

I wouldn’t really call it a crack ship since the two are friends. Granted, their relationship in canon is purely platonic at the moment but it still has a bit more going for it compared to two characters that never interacted or met each other before.
 
That being said, I really don’t mind crack ships. They’re usually meant for fun anyways. Plus some talented artists and writers can really make them work well.

Come to think of it, I do kinda agree with Chrys’s point. Ships that exist just for the sake of it existing like quote on quote “crack” ships don’t make sense to me in the slightest.

A lot of them aren’t supposed to make sense and are made just for fun (minus some fanfiction cases where a person makes an attempt for the ship to make sense by having the two characters interacting with each other in a meaningful way that they didn’t do in canon).

Well whatever reason, it’s still foreign to me and I’d rather leave it at that.

I have a question. I ship SoarinDash and gave them a lot of kids. Abbot Apple, Bailey Apple, Perri Windfall, and Hickory Smoke. My issue is one of them have very pegasus-y sounding names. Two of them are Pegasi tho, Perri and Hickory. But I’m thinking about changing Hickory Smokes name.
 
So the options are…1. Keep Hickory Smoke as his name 2.Sunstrider or 3. Sun Smoke.
 
From those three names which sounds more appealing?
