No thanks, this show sticks to the status quo too much as it is and I would hate it if they just dropped the best new character the show has seen, the only worse thing I could think of is removing Twilight’s wings and bringing the Treebrary back…

Yeah, that is the real kicker, you’d think people would still draw her with Derpy, especially after they showed up together again in The Fault of Our Cutie Marks.

Well I don’t want the Treebrary back because it would make her loss and coping with it completely meaningless, I would be fine if her castle metamorphosed into something less garish but I wouldn’t want the old tree to return.
 
And I love Starlight due to being one of the best portrayed redemptions in the whole show, on par with Discord at the very least and leagues ahead of Sunset and similar, and it would be a real shame to see all that well done character development just thrown away. It would also feel like a bland return to the status quo in a series that already takes very few risks as is.

Well I don’t think Twilight had any real reason to get wings either but that doesn’t mean I want them gone now.

There’s a similar thing with Touhou, actually. Yumemi is one of the most popular PC-98 characters now, even more than a lot of modern characters, but her assistant Chiyuri (one of my top 5 Touhou girls, BTW) hasn’t made the top 100 in the annual popularity poll in years. It might not look like much based on Danbooru, but on Pixiv the story was very different last time I checked.

There are shows that are worse with the status quo, like Spongebob. In fact, Spongebob’s status quo may be holding it back. Even The Simpsons has had like six status quo changes (Though, that three are in Season 11 might explain why that’s the worst season…)

Well it still wasn’t as bad as Sunset’s in either of those regards, and I was talking about her personal internal dealings with it and not how her surroundings reacted to it in this case.

I think Starlight needs her magic suppressed.

Sunset’s was better in that regard as well. Sunset had to face the consequences of her actions and regain trust after the misabuse she put the school through as well as a bout of self-doubt about her own self-worth. Starlight has anxiety issues that stem less from her deeds when she was a villain and more from her social ineptitude and sociopathic tendencies.

Well the humane 6 forgave Sunset in about 10 seconds after months and probably years of being bullied by her while Starlight had only antagonized them once so Sunset really got off a lot easier in comparison, also is this about characters growing or just them receiving punishment for their actions? And the finale was all about her anxiety stemming from her deeds as a villain so I don’t know what you are talking about there…
 
Agreed about them needing to define magic better though.

I’d still be okay if Starlight Glimmer was featured less in the next season, or if she didn’t appear at all. As much as I love her and as amazing as she is, she can’t hog the spotlight all the time. Fans of the other characters would get jealous.
 
She got though this season without getting her magic nerfed or having to pay for her crimes, and that’s fine enough for me :3

i stoped watched mlp since twilight turned intro princess, i have the feel that the show is turning more bad and cliche whit every season, i saw the thorax episode whit my best friend, and all the episode i was like “wait, who is this guy? who is this character? this one wasnt bad earlier?”

Did you not see the whole “No Offense” thing? They were willing to forgive her yes, but they still mistrusted her and had reservations about her, she made an impact on them and the Humane 5 reacted to it, in an idealized but human manner. This is far better than the complete wiping of the slate as with Starlight. I don’t like “Forgive and forget.” Forgive yes but don’t forget which is more the case with Sunset then Starlight. And if we’re talking about characters growing, then Sunset is the one doing that, evolving from a bitch to a repented soul, to a struggling hero, and then to a mentor where as Starlight is still a sociopath in all but name. Starlight has learned little and less about friendship while Sunset has grown.

Soloing every premiere and finale, for all the remaining seasons. While the Mane 6 and the princesses are conveniently helpless or out of the way.
 
While Starlight would take care of any actually dangerous threats, Twilight and her friends could solve every problem that is as simple as two ponies not getting along with each other due to a misunderstanding :D

How would you know it was becoming more bad and cliché if you stopped watching it? Also the show was always cliché ever since the very first season so I don’t know why you count that as a negative.

Sunset never grew or evolved from a jerk to a repentant soul, at best you could say she metamorphosed into one but not evolved. And the fact that an insane cultist might take a while to learn about friendship and empathy is totally understandable, as opposed to Sunset’s 10 second face-turn at the end of the first movie, Starlight might falter and fail often but that is only because she is a well developed character that doesn’t just change her entire personality overnight and still needs help and guidance to stay on the right path. Also they may have wiped the slate with Starlight but they only had one bad interaction with her so it was hardly as bad as suffering physical and mental for years under her rule like with Sunset.

for correcting miself, i just stoped watching regulary, i did watch an episde or two, or get informed of stuff that can interest me via my best friend, but then was tirek, i was “mein god, this one look like something out of some greek mitology book for kids” then there was this cristal-tee-castle-thingy, later was confirmed that candace was going to have a baby, the conversation whit david (my best friend, better know as bizarre song) when like this:  
-hey nahu, did you know that candace is going to have a baby?  
+i swear to god… if is another godamm alicorn…  
-nah, i dont think it will be an alicorn  
(some time later, baby was alicorn)  
-FFS DAVID, I TOLD YOU, godamit we dont need more alicorns

then the only episode i watched after that, was the starlight village, i watched on public tv because i was bored, catched my atention a little, but there was some things that i didint understand (and that i understand now) like “why are their cm blinking? some kinda of quest like an rpg quest around the map?” then i dindt watch anything else, or make research, then i dont remeber what else did i know, later david told me the thorax episode, of a changeling being good, i was like “naaaah, its sooo a trap, it can be smelled from miles” later changelings becoming good colorfull-scarabs-bugs-thingys, and here we are
