After days of no word on Trump’s bond appeal, NY AG Letitia James has filed a motion to reject the latest one as Trump’s insurer still could not provide evidence that they have the money to cover the bond.
We’ll find out the latest update in another 10 days.

Oh I know that’s exactly how it’s going to play out. But I am holding out hope that Elon’s track record of recklessness and incompetence will result in him rolling it out and forgetting to assign special protection to Libs of Tiktok, Catturd, and his own account first.

You can bet on there being an overriding factor to all of that: the more an account follows, responds to and retweets users from a particular aisle of the political spectrum, the less likely they’ll get flagged.
If anything, it’s just a matter of time before Grok itself spills the beans on it.

Since we’re talking about Elon, he recently announced that any account caught partaking in “engagement farming” will be “banned and traced to source.” How will he do this? By relying on Grok of course. How does Grok define engagement farming? It listed some examples. Basically everything Elon and his favorite fash accounts are doing.

And despite that, the GOP is still cash starved.
And, key word there, Trump raised it. How much of that do you honestly believe will actually be funneled to down ballot causes? I’d bet good money that it’s going into his campaign coffers and then likely diverted to keeping him out of jail.

Didn’t Trump recently do a fundraiser that raised like $50 mil tho?

Dems are building what is looking like a record setting cash advantage, in some cases absolutely dwarfing Republicans on both the individual candiate level and on PACs.
Dems are also placing huge fall ad buys in the swing states.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign hasn’t bought any fall ads in key states like Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Trump is also funneling campaign cash into his businesses, which is then spent on his legal defense.
A republican dark money group recently spent 700k…attacking fellow Republicans. Going after 3 Republicans that voted to oust ol Kev.
While money and spending don’t always equal success, you’d still rather be the party making money hand-over-fist than the party that’s paying to punch itself in the face.

There’s probably going to be permanent stalemate until it blows up to all out global war should some NATO members decide they can’t wait any longer and start to send troops there (which would be them telling Biden and Scholz to suck dick; a huge mistake given the threat of far right populists being elected in those countries), or the Russian government somehow spectacularly collapses and is unable to sustain the war effort.
Neither is likely.
There’s also the wild card factor of Zelensky losing domestic support after his knifing of Zaluzhnyi, who is beloved amongst the Ukrainians.
Beyond those scenarios, Ukraine’s best hope is Democrats winning a trifecta this year. It’s plausible that Biden could win reelection and Democrats win back the House; the Senate is another matter (and unlike 2022 turnout won’t be low).

There is some surveillance law rework going on in the US, but instead of improving the situation, a recent proposal might significantly worsen it.

@Poison Trail
Overall I agree, but…
It takes about 1 soldier per 25 civilians
It takes less if you don’t have to respect human rights, due process, and can use brutal methods. It’s Russia we are talking about. Remember how those terrorists that attacked Crocus City Hall were treated? They would be treated even worse if they weren’t expected to be shown on camera and to stand trial. Same applies to Ukrainians.

The cash being spent on the Ukraine war is an overwhelmingly high return investment, not only because it’s funding the US local economy as opposed to that bullshit “We’re airdropping pallets of cash in a warzone!” narrative, but also because of the cost-effectiveness of weakening Russia. A disposable rocket launcher being used to take out a multi-million dollar tank for example.
Even in the scenario that Kyiv is overrun, there is still going to be an active resistance effort. Despite all of their numerous fuckups, Russia is still on the easy part of the war. There’s no such thing as taking a city, stomping your feet and claiming it to be yours, you’ve still gotta hold the territory until there’s a proper takeover without fear of reprisal made easier by, yknow, weapons donated to the effort.
It takes about 1 soldier per 25 civilians to effectively suppress the chance that the local occupying force ends up being vulnerable to the resistance effort. That’s trained soldiers, not just conscripts that have no idea about enforcing shifts just so you don’t end up having your throat slit and your barracks firebombed overnight.
So yeah, those weapons, which are manufactured and benefit the US economy before being sent overseas are very cheap compared to the benefits they bring. Similarly, Russia spends shockingly little to bribe and blackmail Republicans while using troll farms to flood social media with “Bothsides” bullshittery, that’s their high return investment right now.

Fall of Kabul
Ukrainians do believe in Ukrainian statehood and Ukraine actually wants to defend itself. The situation in Afghanistan was that most Afghans either wanted the Taliban to rule or at least were not willing to fight them.
