I’ve heard that the supressed Nagant M1895 revolver was the preferred assassination weapon for the Vietcong during the Vietnam War. Interesting thing about the Nagant, it’s one of the few revolvers in the world that can be suppressed due to its unique mechanism.
 
A lot of interesting guns were used in Vietnam on both sides
 
The US used the High Standard HDM in WW2.  

I hear the ruger 22/45’s are all a hassle to maintain, except for the new “lite” model, which I’d love to get my hands on.

I heard that silenced Ruger .22’s were the Mafia’s assassination gun of choice - light and easy to carry and conceal, not a particularly loud cartridge to begin with. And apparently when .22LR impacts the body at close range, it will tumble internally and wreak massive damage.

So here’s an interesting little pistol - the Sistema M1927  
 
It’s a license-built copy of the M1911A1 made by Argentina using original Colt tooling. They were produced from the late 1920s to the early 1960s, and since being imported to the U.S. market have become the closest thing to getting surplus-era M1911A1’s without paying exorbitant prices. Aside from the Argentine markings (which includes stamping identifying the caliber in a metric standard), they’re identical and have interchangeable components with US-made 1911A1s.
 
But what got me interested in them is their pop-culture connection:  
 
In the manga and anime Black Lagoon, a pair of these are the sidearms of choice for “Roberta” Rosarita Cisneros, “The Bloodhound of Florencia” (aka “terminator maid”). Like most of the action-oriented characters in the series, she did over the top and unrealistic fighting sequences, yet had a deep and compelling background story and character arc.
 
And here’s the kicker - the English voice actor for Roberta?  
 
Why, none other than fashion horse herself, our very own Tabitha St. Germain!

The bolt looks pretty awkward to operate.

I just remembered one other bullpup bolt-action. I had seen it in a private ad and wasn’t sure if it was real or not, but apparently it is. Depending on your point of view, this is either the most awesome or most absurd concept ever -

I hear they only costed like $24 each. Cheap even by Saturday Night Special “standards”. There are better cheap guns out there.
