1m gauge track at China-Vietnam border

There are always reasons why other gauges exist.

This Behemoth Boeing 747 Dreamlifter (Giant 4241 Heavy) operated by Atlas Air Cargo once landed at the wrong airport (Jabara Airport) which is very short instead of McConnell Air Force Base, about 8 miles away which was the intended destination.
 
Here is the ATC Communication transcript:
 
McConnell: Giant 4241 Heavy, roger, you, uh, it appears that you are at Jabara.
 
Dreamlifter: Uh, say again?
 
McConnell: Giant 4241 Heavy, we saw the plane on the radar, and it appears that you are at Jabara Airport.
 
Dreamlifter: Say the name of it again?
 
McConnell: Jabara.
 
Dreamlifter: Jabaro?
 
McConnell: Giant 4241 Heavy, that’s J-A-B-A-R-R-A.
 
The bemused pilots, realizing their mistake, responded to the controller,
 
“Uh, we just landed at the other airport.”

I find it oddly interesting how modern and technology advanced country like Japan uses 3ft 6in (1067mm) Cape Gauge.
