Whether you like or hate the epilogue: I hate how it divided the fandom. Again. One last time - . -

Yeah, but that Adventure Time will be an spinoff.

I remember just over little more then 3 years ago said MLP FIM aka G4 would out live every cartoon by years now that has turned to few years like most that G4 would outlive Adventure Time by at least a a few years now it’s a year even that gone out window thanks to news that Adventure Time is returning with series of specials on HBO Max so now Adventure Time has outlived MLP G4 who saw that outcome coming? not bashing MLP FIM it’s just amazing how this decade ended really

A few subtle nods to romantic relationships is all I would ask for if the time skip could be not discarded entirely.

Romantic Love really isn’t a core theme of the show, so it would be weird and out-of-place to include more than a few nods to the idea.

I know for a fact there’d be people complaining if every last one of the Mane Six had children/got shipped.
 
One of the reasons would be, of course, it not being their preferred ship that got confirmed (which even with Pinkie/Cheese, isn’t an unknown sentiment, if uncommon).
 
I’m fine with ambiguity in this regard. Unpopular opinion, related subject, but I do prefer this outcome, with StarTrix being unconfirmed, because it isn’t my favored ship.
 
(And no, you don’t need to stop being single to be living a happy life, lol)

I don’t count AJ and RD as a couple because that came out of nowhere and Rarijack was teased far more often throughout the series. AJ and RD are better as rivals.
 
Fluttershy and Discord makes me feel bad for the Fluttershy fans because Discord is an incurable asshole.

The episode showed a small snapshot of the mane 6’s current lives. If you choose to believe that’s all they ever had, have, and will have going on, that’s your perogative (though terribly pessimistic and needlessly self-limiting, which is not exactly surprising).
 
It’s not headcanon to say that large swaths of their lives remain undetailed and open to interpretation and further exploration.

And if you count AJ and RD as a couple and Fluttershy and Discord as a couple, then 4 out of the 6 have a romantic relationship on top of the countless other relationships they have.

I don’t understand the question. How is being alone in your 40s not depressing? They don’t have to have children, but they all deserve someone to love them.

Also, I don’t think horses undergo menopause, I know it’s not exclusive to humans (I think dolphins get it too but I might be wrong) but we’re in a serious minority.

Why is them not having families “depressing”? Why is having children apparently the only way a person can achieve happiness? I remember one of the criticisms Harry Potter’s ending got was that it was TOO focused on giving everyone a family and pairing everyone off.
 
Plus, they seem to be in their 40s, which isn’t too late to have a child

I choose to believe they had spouses/families offscreen because five of the six still being single in middle age is too depressing.
 
I would have rather had a three part finale than The Last Problem tacked on as the final episode.

I wouldn’t say “permanently.” Even if they’re fairly old, it’s still possible for the mane six to have families and children, but yeah, I’m genuinely annoyed that Pinkie is the only one who ended up with a child.

That is one of many valid interpretations.
 
A more realistic one is they only had so much time to delve into personal relationships, so they chose to show a few fan-favorites while leaving others nebulous.

The epilogue permanently locked all roads about a future where the mane6 started families and had children of their own.  
Otherwise it would have been shown.
