That sounds reasonable, though I’m a bit leery of adding too many new tags. Some people are already grumbling about what we’ve done so far. :P

Did Emberspike, Emble, rarilight… and flitterhoops…?  
I swear there’s people who just roll dice and draw a kid.
 
I think “adopted” is kinda taken for the adoptable characters, and “adoption” for acts of adoption in the picture.
 
What about “adopted offspring” in addition to “offspring” for such characters, with the usual parent:x tags, making no distinction between biological or adoptive. If someone really needs to know that badly, they can look up the artist’s description somewhere.

I think we should stick with (known) biological parents; the system is already fairly complex, no reason to go adding too many edge-cases.

I’m definitely on the fence about this.  
While my point above still stands (about complexity), I feel there should be some way of indicating adoptive parents, especially when the biological parents are not known (e.g. never revealed).  
The adopted tag might work, but it is sometimes used for adoptables that have been adopted by other artists. Maybe the adoption tag? Though that seems to be more for when the image is about the relationship of parent and adopted child.
 
Edit 2:  
How about:  
If the biological parents are known, tag offspring and the appropriate parent:/parents: tags.  
If there are adoptive parents, tag adopted and the adoptive parent:/parents: tags.  
If the adoptive relationship is a focus of the image, add the adoption tag.
 
As part of the cleanup step, if the parents: tag implies offspring, but no biological offspring of that pairing are in the image, remove the offspring tag (and any hybrid/interspecies offspring/magical * spawn/etc. tags, unless we know for a fact that they apply to the character in question).
 
Seems a bit too complicated, but it’s a start.

‘parent:fluttershy, parent:adoptive’? Not so sure… ‘parent:fluttershy (adoptive)’? ‘adopted’?

Are we adding parent:fluttershy for adopted OCs? IIRC, OC:Anthea is adopted by Fluttershy, or something like that.

yeah, I tend to catch it in time when tagging but when not it’s hard to get into omitting the space… guess it’ll sort itself with time

Careful with the extra spaces; one of the items on my ever-growing list of things I want to go through and fix is artist: and oc: tags with space after the colon.  
Fixed (also alphabetized them, because OCPD):

One thing that may not be clear: implications don’t chain. So for example those ships whose offspring are hybrids (dracony, etc) need to have the hybrid tag added to the implications for the parents:x tag.
 
Dracony implies hybrid, but if the dracony tag is added by the system via an implication, the system doesn’t also add hybrid.
 
Because of that, added hybrid tag to Parents:spikebelle, parents:sparity, parents:dislestia, parents:discolight

Inbred tag seems to be used mostly on characters with, to put it politely, mental/physical handicaps or other negative traits. I’m just going to go with product of incest for now.

If someone comes up with something better later, it can always be aliased.

I did all the implications for big macintosh/mane 6 combos  
rarimac, twimac, pinkiemac, rainbowmac, and applemac (ew) plus marblemac.
 
Do we need a tag for “product of incest” offspring? I assume we’ll be removing the actual incest tag as that only applies to the parents and not the offspring

Hey, seeing as group pics of Mane 6 offspring are all the rage, pretty much any popular ship with Mane 6 would be very helpful.
