So then what’s the deal with Sunset, according to the comic she’s at least around 10+ years older than Twilight and has been in the EQG world for a while, so why was she still in highscool and why are they the same age in that world?

Yeah that’s kinda weird now considering we know the Element of Magic is actually Starswirl’s magic, so why didn’t Starswirl activating the portal the first time not let magic into the EQG world?

The sirens are either immortal or live a very long time. The human world was a sort of magical null zone until Sunset activated The Element of Magic, which broke the effect and allowed the sirens to use their powers again.
 
At least, that’s my interpretation.

Over a thousand in fact. It’s implied that that happened even before Discord came through, given Celestia and Luna were Starswirl’s pupils…
 
The only explanation is that the sirens became immortal and have been around in the human world for that long.
 
There is even a ongong series based on that headcanon.

Wow, kinda sad to see this thread so inactive, aw well on to the present. This was probably already discussed to all heck, but can someone give me an explanation for the Siren/Starswirl/Mirror/Sunset Shimmer thing? The Sirens where sent to the EGQ world 100+ years ago, Sunset shimmer went there, what 5-10 years before the series but they where both around at the same time somehow.

The likeliest I can think of would be Rainbow’s depiction in an imagine spot of Pinkie’s in “Secrets and Pies”, one of the last couple episodes of the season. I’d go a bit more in detail but, well, spoilers and that.

It’s… likely good advice. I mean, it was the sign of her character development that Starlight kinda took the events of that episode on the chin. A season ago, it would be mental breakdowns and apocalypses for everyone.
 
I’m just saying, maybe Starlight should be a bit more cautious about her triggers.
