I don’t think that’s nintendo’s doing. what happened is the audience in general got sick of skits and they got sick of skits because most of the gaming indistry’s sense of humor got laid off during the most recent cutbacks.

I feel Nintendo as a company has gotten a lot more corporate as of late when it comes to their appearances & presentations. They’re just not as fun, silly nor quirky like they used to be when Iwata & Reggie were around. It’s especially noticeable with recent Nintendo directs. Back then they used to do corny but fun & quirky sketches, nowadays it just feels like they’re all “Here’re the games you want to see… Happy now? Quick bugging us…” To me Miyamoto & Koizumi are the only people at Nintendo that likes to liven up a bit when it comes to directs & presentations & shows sincere & passion on the games Nintendo puts out that they actually care about their work. I definitely don’t get that vibes with the new presidents that we got, Doug Bowser & Shuntaro Furukawa

I really, really don’t like the N64 controller.

The joystick is so flimsy, the C buttons are rarely useful, and the Z button can get busted at times.

Probably the worst controller design Nintendo ever did.

In spite of the mediocre critics’ scores, I thought Over the Hedge was a great game. A mediocre movie, but the game made it much better by actually letting you participate in the heists instead of just watching them.

(It also picked up where the movie left off and continued on with its own increasingly ludicrous adventures.)

Who doesn’t love breaking into people’s houses and stealing obscene quantities of junk food while fighting mind controlled rats?

Breath of the Wild is a game I had no interest in playing, at all. I usually don’t like Open World games, with very few exceptions. I can’t say I hate this game in specific since I never played.

It seems Tears of the Kingdom will be more of the same. The discussion regarding Tears of the Kingdom have been interesting though. Reactions to the gameplay video have been basically split up (even those who liked Breath of the Wild wasn’t all that excited with the gameplay that has been shown so far).

Although, what we have seen have been very little. We don’t know how the game will actually be like once it’s released, but I haven’t been impressed so far, in an open world standpoint and from differing from the previous game.

I very much agree with this. Studios seem to focus too much on riding trends, and even indie studios are not immune to this.

Video games are not entering another “golden age”

I’m getting sick to death of “the omnigame” which is a term I used for generic real time role playing games that attempt to do everything. because of the ommnigame I can barely tell games apart anymore they all look the same and worse yet the shadow cast by the omnigame is infesting games that have unique styles. it’s why I’ve grown to hate breath of the wild and I just want the omnigame to just die so that we can have some diversity in game design. on a related rant I’m also getting sick of discount stardew valley clones and interchangeable metroidvania 325 that second one will probably die when silksong comes out.

I really like Star Fox Assault. I think the gameplay is very fun, I enjoyed the on-foot missions and the different things they did with that game. Also the soundtrack is really good.

Nowadays, it seems they always use the N64 Star Fox as a base for every game… I know Starfox 64 is great, but I would love some new ideas thrown around. I think Star Fox Zero had some cool ideas, sadly these were overshadowed by its weird Gamepad controls.

Actually I’d like to hear your take on Mephistopheles. Because the four first sites I’ve found on him claim he is a devil who works as basically a tax collector for Lucifer. And if that’s how he originated, it’s a little more understandable why they went with Arsene, and the other characters of the Phantom Theives having rebellious Spirits kind of fits better with Arsene. Otherwise it’d be like “Oh my spirit is a pirate captain.” “Mine is a devil.” I mean they probably had a different team of Persona picked out if that’s the case. But arguably (from what I’ve read) I’m not seeing the big connection.

It’s wild that when I say I love Starfox, I actually have to specify that I love most of the games in the series instead of just the one. Adventures, Assault, Command, Guard, 2, love those games. Only one game I really dislike(Zero)

Also, don’t know how much of an unpopular opinion this is, but Rising is the best Metal Gear game since MGS3

FFVIII is my favorite mainline FF title

Fallout 4, and other post apoc games should come with sex mods as part of their base content and there shouldn’t be a fade to black. We wanna see that shit, stop hiding it!

Persona 5 scrapped a lot of its mythological symbolism and theming, and I think it’s a lot worse off for it. They were originally going to have Mephistopheles as the main character’s starting Persona, with all the Faustian mythology that entails.

In one of the Persona Stalker Club interviews, they said that the writers planned for Mephistopheles, but the devs felt that Arsene would be a better fit for the vigilante angle that all the other main character Personas start with. A lot of that explanation doesn’t quite add up, as they only vaguely follow it to begin with, and there’s a lot of themes still in the game that fit Mephistopheles, but are simply lost on Arsene.

Mephistopheles would’ve linked up with the Seven Deadly Sins theme, the moral question of manipulating the hearts of mortal men, the struggle between following your noble cause or giving in to your desires, the whole unfair divine game you’re contractually obligated to play, the contracts being brought up every time you start a confidant, the “blasphemous acts” thing that bookends the game, being chained to Hell itself, the Trickster moniker, segues nicely into the Gnostic mythology, and the bad end mirrors the unfortunate fate of Faustus in the original tellings just like how Orpheus and Izanagi have links to the bad ending of their respective games. Heck, Beneath the Mask is chock full of references to Mephistopheles that just go over everyone’s head thanks to Arsene. Even Arsene’s design is a hastily altered Mephistopheles, with the feather-like horns, the black wings, and the mask, really all they added to make it Arsene was the stovepipe hat. Even Raul, the DLC Persona that’s supposed to be a more true version of Arsene, has a signature move that has a high chance of inflicting sleep ailment on all enemies, something that Mephistopheles specifically does in the Goethe play.

I think the real reason they dropped Mephistopheles was to open the door for crossovers and the mobile game market. P5 has had Smash Bros, mobile game crossovers, and a few other RPG crossovers. Using the German devil could’ve closed a lot of these doors, because of how many ratings boards take umbrage with “superstition”. The fact that right now P-Studio is working with a Chinese company to make a gacha Persona 5 spinoff, mirroring the events of P5, but censored to suit CCP preferences, is proof enough that they had ulterior motives for making such a drastic change.

With how popular Persona has become, it bothers me that I’m seemingly the only one upset by all this.

I suppose this one is a little niche, but it’s the middle of the night and I don’t think anyone is listening so I’ll just go ahead and say it:

House cares little for the poor in fact it’s safe to say he cares little for people in general. He claims he has no desire to be worshipped as a god, but he wants to be one. To have control over the lives of numerous people.

That being said I still think he’s SLIGHTLY better than Caesar since the way Caesar would clean up Freeside would involve murder and enslavement

All character customization games should have options like “Nudist” and “Diaper”. That way people like myself can be properly represented in modern media. As a full-time diaper wearer and a full-time nudist, this would make me very happy. I would finally get to play as my truest self for once in these types of games.

Sadly I have not even played Black and White. Although I do like how pretty they look compared to the sometimes bland Platinum.

I did like Reshiram as probably many others did and watched comic dubs of the game back when Snivy was called Smugleaf

I remember Diamond and Pearl fondly because they were my introduction to the franchise.
However, nothing you can say will make me stop liking Snivy, Sylveon, or Braixen.

There should be no criteria what makes a good or bad Pokemon in terms by design appearances.

When I said “underdeveloped and cartoonishly evil,” I meant both the Legion and the Institute. Both are essentially the ‘bad guys’ of their respective games, pitted against ‘good guy’ factions that the games nudge you towards supporting.

The Institute doesn’t even have a coherent plan or ideology aside from “science good” and the desire to maintain the status quo and fend off threats to their power, making it difficult to formulate any argument for supporting them aside from “maybe the Sole Survivor has a plan.”

I think the game does a good job of showing the player the legion’s flaws by letting you visit their campsite and witnessing the treatment of the slaves and the delusions/megalomania/hypocrisy of Caesar.

That being said, I don’t think that Mr. House is much better. The best argument against him, in my opinion, is the deplorable state of Freeside, which is firmly within House’s sphere of influence yet he shirks any responsibility for it and leaves its residents to fend for themselves. In the case of Freeside, I think even Legion rule would be a slight improvement since they would clean up the drugs and the crime and ensure everybody had basic rations of food and water.
