But I would like to formally welcome you to Club Himiko. Side note: at first I didn’t like Tenko but I can at least understand her simping for the magic loli.

Just finished V3 and, aside from the final Argument Armament, I honestly thought the game was pretty good over all.

I’m assuming you’re talking about Ryoma, this game’s obligatory weird-looking character? Because I had similar thoughts upon seeing him.

I still need to watch the anime, myself. I have a hunch what you might be talking about since I did get a couple things spoiled that happened in it but I’m not going to guess in case it’s wrong.

Hope you enjoy V3 when you play it. It probably has my favorite cast out of the entire series, both in terms of the characters as individuals and in terms of how they play off of one another.

I’m just going to say this: Screw episode ten of the despair arc…

Currently watching the Danganronpa 3 anime in preparation for playing V3 and I’m seriously falling in love with Chiaki all over again.

Any of the other 2 people here been playing Ultimate Summer Camp?

I was expecting the Tower of Despair mentioned in the trailer would be more like the dungeon crawly RPG from V3’s postgame. Instead, it’s just nothing but battles, which is kind of lame. It would have also been nice to see more variety in development mode, like how you could select and jump between boards in the version in V3. The cynical side of me wonders if they deliberately made it more monotonous and an even bigger grind to unlock everything just to get you to shell out on microtransactions.

On the bright side, it’s still nice seeing more character interactions and revisiting Jabberwock Island. And even though I did criticize some aspects of the board game, there are also things it does better this time around like having combat, shops, more variety in cards, and you have to be more strategic with your decision making, even if it is still pretty luck based.

While I do tend to be a completionist, this isn’t the kind of grind I can see myself sitting through for hours at a time. Definitely going to be a more “play it a bit here and there” kind of game for me.

I beat Ultra Despair Girls last night.
 
I wasn’t a fan of Komaru at first. Luckily her character development kicked in and now I like her a lot. She was also probably the most fitting main character they could have picked, given how many people related to people from the first game you run into. RIP Yuta and Taichi.
 
I was thinking about why it’s so much darker than the main game. Yeah, having messed up things happen to kids is part of it, but I think another part is that this time you’re actually seeing part of the Tragedy play out as opposed to just seeing a few still images from somewhere far away from wherever you are.
 
My only real complaint is that some of the 3D cutscenes had kind of stiff animation that felt a bit off. And maybe there was a place or two that could have benefited from another save spot but that was probably just to make going for an A rank harder. If I want to really nitpick, the Steam version that I played had some weird hard-to-describe graphical hiccups on loading screens and the save menu I probably could have fixed but put up with. And then to really nitpick the ghost scene was kinda dumb. I mean, it was funny but thanks to paranormal stuff actually being in the game, Yasuhiro’s burger story actually seems credible now and I don’t know how to feel about that.
 
I actually liked the Warriors of Hope even though a lot of people didn’t seem to. Like, yeah, what they did was awful but it’s not hard to understand why they did it. The only characters I didn’t particularly care for were Kurokuma and Haiji. Like, I tried to give him a chance just because I knew he was a character a lot of people don’t like but when he talked about the kind of girls he liked and seeing how abusive he was to Monaca, making you wonder if he’s part of the reason she turned out the way she did it became hard to like him.
 
Now I’m hoping that poster early on in V3 for Ultra Despair Girls 2 isn’t just there to troll us.

A mall setting could actually be a pretty interesting change of pace. I like the integration of former students’ talents with their stores. Especially since it serves as another clue that it’s likely VR since you know the characters didn’t go into business. It’s also kind of funny to me how even if Toko did have a bookstore, there’s no way she’d stock comics or manga. I like to imagine Monokuma/the mastermind would intentionally do things like that just amuse themselves by disrespecting their previous victims. I could even see him doing things like using irony to give people shops they wouldn’t go into in the first place. Like if there was a food court with a fast food joint called Byakuya Burger. Although that would actually fit the Ultimate Imposter so it could double as an homage to him while also trolling the real Byakuya.
 
Oh yeah, I almost forgot the reason I came back to this thread in the first place. I’ve been playing Ultra Despair Girls and man, I didn’t expect it to be this depressing. I’m pretty sure I’m close to the end of chapter 3. I’m still reeling from the beginning of the chapter when Kotoko got her PTSD flashbacks. Something tells me Monaca didn’t actually forget Kotoko’s trigger word and intentionally used it because she’s a sociopath.
