I saw the whole fight and Usman was kinda gun shy against a counterpuncher who was also gun shy. Shabily definitely answered a lot of Usmanβs offenses early on and made him eat huge counter punches, I guess that planted seeds of doubt in Usmanβs mind.
The only clean strike he landed was that head kick he launched in R4 that made him went for a takedown and sub attempt and ground and pound. And that was only because Shabily got caught slippinβ.
Usman got the skills and agility to reign as champ. He just needed to take more risks.

His brother Umar was a lot more active and aggressive against Sandhagen and that made the fight more entertaining. Usman needs to start believing in his own offensive capabilities. He seems unwilling to engage against someone whoβs able to match him.
