Oh, yeah - that’s a great idea. I mean, if you can play MineCraft with the tablet instead of a mouse, then you’re practicing all the same kinds of gestures and keystroke/stylus moves that you’ll be doing when drawing, too.

BBL going to go play StarCraft with my tablet.

Using the tablet as pointing device for everyday use (web browsing etc) instead of the mouse for a while works great for building the brain/tablet connexion

Yeah. It’s very non-intuitive, but if you keep looking at the screen while you draw circles, eventually your brain syncs up those two things, and when you reach for “a spot” on the monitor by finding that corresponding point on the tablet, it will just work.

I’ve been told its similar to getting new glasses - it can sometimes take a while for your brain to remap what you’re seeing so it makes sense.

Hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of practice.

It’s like learning a new musical instrument, or learning how to draw with the wrong hand … just keep doing it until your spine and your arm and your brain all agree what’s going on.

In all sincerity, just drawing circles for a half hour every morning and evening will dramatically improve your use of it. You don’t have to “draw a thing” - you just have to get your brain and body to agree that your hand on the tablet and your eyes looking at the screen are “hooked together” in a way that makes sense.

I personally find the screen tablet INFINITELY preferable. Mine is also a Huion. But it’s still hours and hours and hours of practice before it starts feeling as natural as a pencil on paper.

I’ve gone to a “Huion KAMVAS 20 Drawing Tablet Pen Display with HD Screen 8192 Pressure Sensitivity - 19.5 Inches” and it is super sweet. But when I first started using it, I basically had to do the same thing. Draw circles every morning and night until something “clicked” and now it feels just like using paper and pencil, except that it’s also PhotoShop so I can Undo.

I guess the currentt equivalent model is something like the HUION KAMVAS Pro 20 Drawing Monitor

Like with working with ink, I find it helps to start with a paper and pencil sketch, scan that in, and then “ink” it in PhotoShop with the Huion tablet and pen. That way I’m still able to get the energy of the paper and pencil sketch, but also can take advantage of the digital tools for finishing it.

I’ve been drawing with this screenless tablet the Huion H610Pro. And it can be difficult to replicate a pencil with this. It doesn’t feel as natural as using a pencil. I do luckily have a drawing glove.

I’ve been doing this tutorial and doing things like corrections and erasing and redrawing aren’t as natural for me as day drawing it on a screen tablet like an I Pad.

Also pressure sensitivity can feel either too soft or too hard to not make it feel too natural.

How do you people overcome this strange feeling of using a tablet that you have to look at the computer monitor with?

Any tips?

Perhaps I should consider getting a screen tablet?

edit: I use Krita on Windows 10 btw.
