Yes, it will have to. while aliases can be undone, its effects on tags can’t be undone that easily.

The tags have been split again, but now it’s missing from tons of images that it used to be present on. Was there no way to properly revert the change, does the tag really have to be restored manually to all the images it belongs on?

I am not sure who set the alias
but can you help me out here and show a couple examples of each type? I did a quick glance and am seeing that they are typically a dark color with lighter thorns/spikes.
Poison vines were the facehugger-looking guys, while the black vines were just the vines in general :P
