Don’t forget in 1994 that Michael Jackson secretly worked on some music’s in Sonic 3 like for example: Carnival Night Zone, Icecap Zone(its actually Hard Times by the Jetsons but some people said that it also sampled Smooth Criminal and Who Is It), and more notably the end credits(Stranger in Moscow).But Jackson was accused for molesting a kid or something so that his name is uncredited in the game.Well either that or he was frustrated at the sound quality of the Genesis.
As for Sonic Rush,I like it and I’m playing it right now on my emulator and I had no regrets whatsoever.And for Lost World,the only thing that bothers me is the run button. I mean is it really necessary in a Sonic game or maybe they just implement that button so that Sonic won’t off balance in those crazy spherical platforms in some levels right?

Yeah, there’s alot of ex-fans out there, but still new ones coming in too.
I’ve seen a few who only like 2D games in general, (even a few who feel that way about stuff like Mario & Zelda) which is funny, ’cause back when 3D polygon games were still new, people were hating on old 2D games, and such saying only 3D games were good, and the way of the future.
I’m not actually talking about haters, per se, just people who were fans then and then the 3D games ruined it for them. And yes, I know Sonic was popular. I’m not an idiot.
Perhaps, but Sonic still has a pretty surprisingly sized fanbase (young & old) out there despite the hate and controversy he gets from nerds online. (Plus haters tend to be more outspoken, so you can’t always trust “popular opinion.”) The 20+ year old Sonic comic series, and the new “Boom” TV series even seems to of helped boost his popularity with youngsters. He also has quite a bit of merch’ out there. (I even saw an official Halloween costume of him in the store the other day.) So he’s a bit more beloved then you’d think.
In fact, back in 1991 to 1995 Sonic was just as big as Pokemon was, believe it, or not. Ask anyone who was alive at that time. He was also the first game character to get a Balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, and has the longest running comic series. So Sonic’s still got some things going for him. So just going off what the haters say, is rather biased, as they don’t know everything about Sonic, or want to.

Except I’m not talking about me personally, but other people. The main difference between Pokemon and Sonic is that Pokemon is much, much more liked than Sonic.
To each their own. Some people hate Pokemon too, so not every popular series is for everyone.
I’ve never been a Sonic Fan either way, so I can’t see for sure other than what I’ve heard. The older games were just meh, and the newer games are buggy messes that bore the crap out of me.
There’s petitions against everything… Internet petitions rarely work, so those hate petitions are pointless to even regard. A random guy made a petition to get Ian Flynn fired from writing the Megaman official comic book series, just because he writes original story arcs in between the game adaptation story arcs. (Apparently, he just wants them to be about Megaman fighting Robot Master bosses with nothing else happening.) Said petition only has ONE signature hilariously. Apparently, others (including myself) enjoy Ian’s comics.
As for where the Sonic hate started for some when the series went 3D, as some feel it didn’t translate to 3D well. Regardless, many seem to like 3D games as much as others hate them. Though, even some recent 2D games get hate too, like “Sonic Rush,” because some felt it relied on the boost feature too much.
I love Sonic, but I won’t deny it’s one of the most controversial game series around. Hopefully, those 2 new upcoming games will be better received.

Guess I’m in the minority then, because I bought “Sonic Lost World” for my 3DS recently, and I don’t regret it.
I also tire of hearing only the Genesis/old games are good. I rather liked the Dreamcast/GameCube games, even the controversial Shadow game, despite it’s flaws. Only Sonic games I didn’t like were “Secret Rings,” and some of the Game Gear titles. Sonic 2006, I can’t have an opinion on, as I only played it briefly in a demo, but admittedly, the physics movements could’ve been better.
