Another brief aside. I think that Super Saiyan God was an incredibly lazy idea design wise. Especially considering a design already exists for a “Sun Wukong Goku”

The mod design is a tad to garish for my tastes but it is actually creative. If you’re going to make a god saiyan try to sell me on it. When I read the manga, a character had to say “oh hey his hair changed color.” Like wow whoopdie shit…

I Think Super Saiyajin God Super Saiyan was far lazier design wise, just make it regular SSJ, but with Blue Hair. The God version at least tried to make it new, by making him skinny and glowing red, but otherwise was normal Goku, like a unknown power from within.

*Dragonball Z: Elsewhere . This is a cool on going fan comic that is Yamcha centered. It’s not the 3 chapter fan doujin though as this is a comic made by an English speaker and it’s a fully realized story. I suggest giving it a read!

This is my opinion on the whole deal at least. Super Saiyan God is a tad underwhelming but it’s still distinct enough from the other forms. I also liked that it made the user slimmer as opposed them roiding out.

I think the mod’s a bit garish too but I do approve of the idea of Goku wearing the Son Wukong outfit for his god mode. Also speaking of the Super Saiyan 4 designs, I have seen some people make some mild redesigns of SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta by making their hair and fur gold (and ditching some of the edgy 90s aesthetic). I think they look pretty good here.

Making the fur gold is also a nice touch. But honestly I don think a kind of rusty/red would also be good. But gold/yellow is good if they are going to have super saiyan gold hair. Personally I like the 90s aesthetic.
 
As far as fan comics I am also reading *Dragon Ball Multiverse I just discovered it today. It is a cluster fuck but an entertaining clusterfuck. So far it has 1,500 + pages. So if you want to read a comic about different versions of Goku fighting in a multi-verse tournament this is for you. But pace yourself.
 
One thing I like is that there is a human only multiverse team. A team of just Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha. I’ve only seen Krillin fight so far and I’m just 200 pages in. I’m probably only going to read 100 pages a day if I have the time lol.

And honestly there are some fights i just skipped since the page count is daunting and it was between characters I didn’t care about. But for the most part it’s interesting. (around 200 things go tits up)
 
Also, you said you were going to give your opinion about the future of Dragon Ball. Since I said the franchise either needs to end or get a reboot. I’m still waiting on your opinion.

Do you like U!16 Bra and Vegito? Hope so, because they get a LOT of love in it (Bra particularly). And let’s hope you don’t like Frieza, Cooler, or Cold too much, because they mostly exist to be bitches.
 
Though I will say the two Gohans are currently putting in a lot of work and getting to be awesome.

Nah they’re all backstories that delve into how each universe diverged.
 
The problem is actually non-existant for newbies on a binge read like yourself. But for people who’s been following the doujinshi for years we’ve noticed an infuriating pattern of chapters focusing on the main tournament ending on cliffhangers, then followed by a special chapter, before returning to the tournament, before repeating the process.
 
At a schedule of only 3 pages a week (and for a time only 2 pages a week) this can mean special chapters can go on for literal months. And not all of them are much good to begin with (Cell’s in particular was a waste). I kid you not, the current arc (which I won’t spoil) has been going on for 2 years now, and only now looking like it’s winding down to a conclusion. And yet there’s another special chapter coming in a week or two.

I’ve heard of this fanon darling that is fighter Bra. I know she is a cannon character and she got her name changed to Bulla or something like that, but I remember seeing a video explaining the basic backstory of vegetto and how he did not unfuse, Chi-chi (probably wisely) decided to let Bulma be this fusion’s wife. And Bra is a tough fighter in this universe. “Our” Bra is like a normal teenage girl.

Hah I’m glad I’ve found this comic super late then. In that case I might have to stagger my reading even further because I HATE reaching the last update of fanfics/fan comics and waiting for an update. Especially in scenarios where the creator could just drop the project at any moment. I know that feeling all too well.

That Dragon ball multiverse comic. The comment section is full of twats. They seem to get real angry when it does go into a special/ side story. Its like they have nothing better to do besides reading a free internet fan comic.

Honestly so far I am liking the Yamcha story more. It is packed full of OCs (Since the author gave Yamcha an origin story) so your mileage may vary on that but the author put a lot of thought into lore and backstory, and the pacing is not a schizophrenic mess unlike Multiverse. Also the comment section of both is like night and day. With the Yamcha story the comments are few but positive.

Man you ain’t kidding. When I read what you said I went back a few pages just to read the comment section. Most of the time its a long drawn out argument between two or three people about something totally unrelated to what is actually going on on the page. Most of it is fighting over power levels. Nobody gives a damn about the story (for what little of it there is in the comic so far.) I think the only time I saw someone actually talk about relevant issues was when Yamcha revealed that he was an android.
 
Any other time, these pissy entitled brats are complaining about how they don’t like the art or the feel/mood of the special comics. And that’s fine but one of them said that readers should boycott the comic because it wasn’t up to his standard. Like wow, get fucked you obsessive troglodyte. Seriously if you don’t like it then stop reading it. But none of these people putting their time and effort into this comic you get to read for free owe you anything.

That’s one of the things I praise the specials for. It’s nice to have a variety of art and stories to experience. Otherwise we wouldn’t get the majesty that was the Handsome Squidward art of Gast’s 2nd special.
 
On a functional level it give the main artist time to create a backlog of updates.

Yeah I figure that is probably the second most important reason specials exist. The main artist is just one person it seems. Maybe two. With a bigger pool of artists they can give the main person a chance to create a backlog.
 
It’s almost like the relationship between the Z warriors and Goku lol. Z warriors fight not to win but to give Goku time to arrive. Only I think the Z warriors get more appreciation than these poor special artists. Even Yamcha.

Also…I didn’t stagger my reading of Multiverse at all. I’m 1300 pages in. And yeah I have to say Freeza, Cooler and King Cold look like complete chumps. But at the same time they kinda are. Especially Freeza who should stay dead. If the Pilaf gang didn’t exist I’d say Freeza is the team rocket of dragon ball by this point. To Super Freeza’s credit he did train to become golden freeza, multiverse Freeza is still as strong as he was during the Namek arc I think. So everyone has far surpassed him.
 
About Bra. I like her but at the same time her cocky attitude annoys me because she is this out of nowhere prodigy. I was actually gleeful when Ginyu switched bodies with her, thought she would learn humility but nope. Pappy Vegetto saves the day. My problem with Bra is she’s never failed even once. She is this perfect saiyan princess curb stomping all of the competition. My innate love for all things ‘underdog’ is throughly unimpressed.  
It’s quiet sad really because for a second I thought the “frost demons” (Arcosians…wtf are they called?) were getting a tactical advantage. An ingenious long con ruined because it got no pay-off.
 
And now order is starting to unravel. Its so obvious this tournament was a bad idea considering how many evil people showed up.

I actually like that about Frieza’s gang here. Unless stated otherwise a character is just as strong as they last were in canon, so here the entirey of the Frieza force are as horrendously outpowered as you’d think pre-Super. And yet they still manage to be plot relevant simply by switching their scheming to cunning rather than brute force.
 
Also Ginyu-Cold is top material from start to finish.
 

 
Ok, this one needs explaining. Bear with me as I try to explain this.
 
Officially the entire race is called…Frieza Clan. Yes the entire race is named after Frieza, despite Frieza’s family line being mutant offshoots, they’re all “Frieza Clan”.
 
“Arcosian” comes from the Ocean Dub only telling of an anime only backstory for the saiyans. This is the same dub that said that Goku’s father was a “brilliant scientist” btw…so yeah. Even when Frieza was introduced and the Saiyans given an official backstory in the manga, English speakers noticed that the ‘correct’ backstory still mostly matched up with this otherwise-jossed backstory, so “Arcosian” became and mostly-fanon-but-still-semi-canon name for Frieza’s species.
 
“Frost Demon” is Multiverse’s name for the race. This one is special however in that Cell actually used this term to refer to the Frieza Race player character in Xenoverse, thus making this term semi official.

Lol yeah it does. I’m mostly understanding to how fanon can sometimes become semi canon. Probably a total coincidence tho.
 
I wish we got to see more of Universe 18 Bra. I think it would be fun if she came out of this with a desire to fight but still kept her valley girl tendencies. So like Saiyaman she uses a persona and is a “fabulous” super heroine.
 
A tangential aside since I haven’t been in this thread long I want to talk about favorite characters. (how original) As I said before I like underdogs so almost since the beginning my favorite character has been Krillin though I hold a special place for all of the earthling Z warriors which is why I was happy to see them in Multiverse.
 
In fact long before I learned that Krillin eventually got married I made a freaking relationship sue for him. And a small part of me wants to share it. If anyone wants to see the cringe.

They are finally doing universe 9’s side story on DBM.

Random question. Is Super canon? I asked about this in a discord and a small argument broke out. Though the verdict landed on it being not canon. But I don’t know how valid that is.

“Canon” is a complicated thing to the DB franchise as a whole, but to keep things simple yes, the animated adaptation of Super is canon to the animated adaptation of Dragon Ball and of Z. Look no further than Super’s take on Resurrection F where it had Ginyu return when in the manga Ginyu died as a frog and in the movie Ginyu didn’t appear at all.

Thing about Multiverse is that everything is canon when you get down to it since multiple timelines mean all actions and inactions were taken by someone at some point.
