For unpopular opinion for Star Wars - screw issue of diversity and whiteness of characters, its equally bad when its still human. Even if you asume that human dominance is fine (I don’t) it’s still bad to use them 90% of time while many interesting races rarely have something other one one shot or background characters.
 
But thats IMO problem of most sci fi.

Yeah but humans are easier make realistic looking than CGI or puppets so unless you want them to go the Star Trek route and make the aliens just humans with some gunk on their face it’s still the best option.
 
Also humans are the master species and having them not be the dominant lifeform is complete heresy. :I

I’m fine with droids in SW, they are used well and have some big representation but usually they are made in image of humans or trashcans (well at least both kind go well together), something more like Seperatist droids what are based on aliens would nice.

“X is easier” is not exuse. Also it only apply to live action and only show that live action is over rated. Cartoons, comics, games have no such problems so they shouldn’t be that limited, books have even less restriction that those.  
Also I like CGI and puppets

This is so fucking true, people just don’t get that if you push any sentient as purely superior or even just give them all the leading rolls it’s still crappy writing, i mean for fucks sakes at least in non live action shows you could have the Rebels be mostly aliens and even imply that Mon Mothma and Garm are just figure heads because the actual leadership like Akbar would make humans buy more into the empire’s BS, i wouldn’t hate it as much if they didn’t make a big deal out of how wrong anti alien bigotry is then pull mighty whitey and white man’s burden tropes left and right while being blind to the irony, looking at you Star Wars Star Trek and Mass Effect,

Alright but why is that a problem? Aliens aren’t human at all so thinking about them in human terms and giving them human labels seems rather pointless to me. The real sin here is the fact that these aliens are frequently portrayed as humans with a few random cultural/biological quirks, there is no reason that they should even be able to talk to us let alone have a cultural exchange.

Don’t even get me started on all the problems that movie had in regards to evolutionary biology and over humanization, the fact that we can hybridize humans and na’vi into a living creature alone makes me want to vomit.

Because having the Vulcan’s be treated differently by the writers is the same as treating another ethnicity differently, as a writer you have to respect every species and culture the same or you are adding bigoted subtext to your work, every time the rebels are depicted as mostly human is reinforcing the very concepts they are supposed to be fighting against, it’s a fail.

They aren’t an ethnicity though, they are aliens! that is like saying we should have affirmative action for octopi, they are so completely and utterly different than us that even suggesting viewing them through a human lens should get you laughed off the writing team! But no we have to anthropomorphize everything sapient and give it racial subtext even when doing so makes no sense at all.

I can’t help but think that, if I get the opportunity, I would make a Sci-Fi where all the alien races aren’t even close to human, aside from one, where their nipples are in their armpits, and the male care/birth the children.
