They make for excellent training grounds and the bosses are awesome but the farming makes them a real chore

I don’t know if you need to farm all that much, once you get access to the resources. but if there are some you definitely need, yeah, the room layouts that are procedurally generated in the Diablo style just doesn’t work here, not if these games are hand crafted both in visuals and gameplay.
 
that said though, the only dungeons I wouldn’t like doing, which if I want some stuff from I would have to do, are the root chalices. Getting the shit-tier filler bosses from them seems to me like a gigantic deal breaker, like, Man-eating pig.

say, something I forgot to mention in the last ng+ for ds1.
 
did you guys know, you can rip apart the Centipede Demon’s each individual centipedes? and that each part, becomes a mob upon landing, a half-cut centipede mob that can crawl towards and attack you. I noticed that while fighting and cutting off 2 of its centipede-like limbs, the tail at the back and on the left in front of it, that big limb that the centipede uses to expand it at you, if you’re far away from the boss.  
I’m mentioning it because up until now, I don’t remember seeing that in this boss before.
 
 
To me it seems like the point of the fight might have been getting the ring to fight the boss in the lava, which is why the arena seems so fucking awful with only <5% of it being able to stand on without dying, but there’s more, you have to know 2 things, to cut the tail and if that didn’t kill the centipede thing, to kill it as well, because only after dying it drops the ring. This could’ve been solved by having that ring drop at Ceaseless Discharge, there, Done.  
Next problem is play testing. The boss jumps too much at close range and it’s a pitiful attack that can almost never do anything, in fact it’s unbelievably slow, just watch this boss fight… This is where some play testing would’ve helped, as well as maybe even come to the same conclusion I’m thinking, that this whole scenario is too convoluted to make sense of.  
the whole idea is cool, but the ring should be obtained before the fight and the patches of ground removed entirely, if the whole point of the boss was to have a boss you fight in the lava. It seems far too intentional for it not to be the case, with the ring being obtainable during the fight, as well as the arena being over 95% lava.
 
 
Anyway, I would like to see if it works next time, because it is a fairly novel idea that could’ve worked for something like fighting this boss that isn’t too extremely difficult, while having its environment used against you.

Thread Starter - Artists you miss.

Low and behold, as soon as I abandoned my earlier approach to Dark Souls 2, the deaths have racked up to more than two dozen. Not on my main save file though.
 
I’ll be honest, I probably have more fun this way. Max hollowed, crappy weapons, nekkid Bearer, and inefficient stat distribution (I’ve been levelling them all equally).

well, it’s no wonder.. this is the same for DS1, or DS3, or Bloodborne, lower vitality generally racks up the death counter like nothing else, it’s why SL1/SL4 runs are so brutal, as well as any other stats removing more and more options/advantages.
 
still, do you level ADP? because it’s curious how that kind of run would go with inefficient stats on all other things and low agility.

let me think this one.. because I did it all today and I kind of forgot.
 
first, what I did was go to the Tomb of the Giants and meet with that scamp in the Catacombs first, then I walked back to get into Blighttown, but I went avoiding the Taurus Demon and as far as I can tell, I think I did that going down Havel’s room first and then through the Darkroot garden, straight at the Undead Parish, without having to climb the wall to the bridge of the Undead burg.  
basically yeah, I was trying one of Gibbontake’s layouts that he showed going through the Darkroot garden and avoiding everything else, because with the master key, I think you can do either Queelag or Bell Gargoyles as the first boss fight after the tutorial and then straight to Anor Londo. The game has some really cool paths you can take first if you want.
