Honestly, I think it’s alright. The design is probably gonna be better in motion anyway. Also, let’s be real it’s much better than having an actor in fursuit and now he can properly emote instead of looking dead-eyed at the audience.

I do find it neat that they give him a small tooth gap.

It all depends on what sort of show this new Barney will be.
Imo kids these days simply find a meager amount of saltnpepper boring. They love their meal seasoned with garlic, thyme, cumin, nutmeg, paprika, etc.
So. New Barney needs to spice em up. Pop culture references, fun animated characters, jokes that the kids will get ten years later, social media involvement, ARG, hidden dark secrets, or something.
Can’t go bland no more.

Also they cannot throw it in there. First rule of cooking is knowing how to cook and experimenting a figure out what goes well with what and how to add.

Unpopular opinion: I never minded Barney. I guess I didn’t watch him a lot but I never saw him as creepy. I saw him as a nice purple fellow. Sure I liked Blues Clues the most but I thought of Barney as a good fellow. Than again I also have fond memories of Dora so take that as you will.
@tehwatever
Ugh I think that’s what out of touch executives think. I mean when I was a kid, I was totally fine with the more chill and calm atmosphere of Blues Clues. I didn’t need excessive meta jokes.

Eh, maybe I’m just an old zoomer stuck with his VHS tapes.

Barney Blue’s clues and TTG have different target demographics, it’s like assuming Dora the explorer should immediate johnny test,

I’d consider all those shows to be in the same general demographic. What’s different is the intent behind the show’s.

Okay, look… I’ve seen a picture of the upcoming CGI reboot of “Barney the Dinosaur”, and the thing is, I don’t mean to sound rude or disrespectful, and Barney taught me never to be like that… but DEAR GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS FACE?!

The chill and calm of slice of life anime I love dearly, no meta jokes necessary. Put in a good background music and you’re in a good spot.
IMO the key factor imo to a good REMAKE / Reboot / New Iteration to an entertainment product is sincerity.
If a show seemed sincere to you with its messages. If it looks like a love letter to something the show creator held dear back in the day–then it most likely will be received well, or heck, will have loyal fans.
Dead Space Remake was sincere. The Dev Team loved the original but also knew how to deliver it to a more recent audience. Barney Remake should do the same.

No, Barney Blue’s Clues and Dora are aimed at very different age groups then ttg and johnny test, you have very different ads that need to be run there, remember popularity means nothing if your not popular with the people the advertisers are aiming for,

I can’t imagine TTG and Johnny Test widely appealing to kids over 2-6. If I’m being generous, Johnny Test and TTG have appeal to like, up to 11. They’re biggest audience I still assume is extremely young.

Remember the cartoon Class of 3000?
If Andre from OutKast were my teacher, I’d NEVER miss a day of school.

I’d argue it’s the best looking Marvel cartoon that’s currently airing right now. But I expected nothing less from the same animation studio that worked on Lego Monkie Kid and Rise.

The first two episodes were pretty good too.

Not a fan of the art style but yeah. It’s very colorful, expressive and smooth.
And Casey is both Best Girl and Best Friend.

Won’t you 🎵La-la-la-la-la-la- light the scene.
I boosted the brightness on Ursula’s pic, I don’t think Disney was happy with how she looked or something.
