This is kind of a personal rant…but since it’s music related, I may as well post it in this thread.
 
One thing I can never understand is how most people classify Imagine Dragons music as “Alternative Rock”, yet most-if not all-of their songs don’t really sound like the “Rock” part of that subgenre (Hell, their #1 Rock single, Radioactive, sounds more like Dubstep.).
 
I know they have a guitarist, but how come I can’t hear any guitar notes in any of their songs? All I hear in their songs are the lyrics, synth pads, and loud techno drums; do those sound like the instruments you’d hear in a rock band?
 
Apologies to any fans of the band, but unless someone shows me a song of theirs that actually puts the rock in “Alternative Rock”, I’m just going to listen to fan-made covers of their songs.

Radioactive is faaaaar away from Dubstep. It sounds closer to Electro than traditional Dubstep.

Well, you may be right on that one.
 
But still, I don’t see why it won the award for “Best Rock Single”; there’s nothing in that song that sounds remotely like rock.

So it seems that Post-Hardcore has a shot at redemption for these past few years. Thrice, At the Drive-In, Thursday, Fear Before the March of Flames, hopesfall, Fightstar, and others reformed. However Finch came back released one album then split up again (funny enough they were the first to come back for a studio album), As Cities Burn dropped two tracks, one shitty one and one good one then dropped off the face of Earth, meanwhile Glassjaw after years of saying theyd put out an album with nothing much to show finally released one new song they recorded and then performed a bunch of new songs…they havent actually released any new songs for a year, I give them 20 years before they announce that the album is done recording and an extra 10 years before it gets released. Also Funeral For A Friend split up but other than those things it seems that Post-Hardcore is on its way up.

Old comment to reply to, but I play piano, electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, accordion, harmonica, mandolin, melodica, violin (barely), and mixed percussion. I also sing and write my own songs.

Just heard a Franz Ferdinand song on a commercial. Think that’s the first time I’ve heard one on the TV.
