SUPER HELPFUL DEATH EGG  

Is it weird I always liked the “Death Egg?” I almost wish they’d bring it back in the games. (Though, I guess Space Colony Ark, and such are quite similar.)

Yeah it is, plus I liked it’s levels in S&K.
 
I read that Sega wanted to put a reference to American pop-culture & another to Japanese pop-culture in “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” which is why that game introduced the “Death Egg,” and “Super Sonic” super form. (Which are both obvious nods/references to both “Star Wars” & DBZ.) Despite being parodies, they ended up being taken seriously, and became important to the Sonic series.
 
Also, in other news, I hear M2 is remaking “Sonic 2” for the 3DS Eshop as part of their “Sega 3D Classics” line of games for it. I’m curious what special features it will have.  
They’re also remaking “Streets of Rage 2,” as well. (Can’t wait for both.)
 
Also, speaking of which the 3DS Eshop is having a 50% off sale for their earlier “3D Sega Classics” games, including “3D Sonic 1.” (Making them 3 bucks each, a good buy.)

Well, anthropomorphic superheroes have existed for a long time. Mighty Mouse was one of the first. TMNT just kinda popularized it later, and Sonic kinda popularized it with video games.

Y’know everyting was cool until the entire fucking Team Dark died after their ship exploded into pieces!  
YES! Shadow, Rogue and Omega are dead in the comics for know until Sonic and Mega recovers everything to normal again!

Really? I’m thinking it’s a fake-out, or just temporary. (Characters get “killed” in comics all the time, dude. Don’t freak out.) I don’t think Sega would let them permanently kill off their characters.
 
Heck, they wouldn’t even let them kill off Princess Sally back during the old “Endgame” story arc back in the ‘90s. (Writer Ken Penders wanted to off her & Robotnik originally back then. Sega would only let him kill them off temporarily.)
 
Overall, I think the Sonic comics by Archie are pretty good, but I can’t afford them right now, so I’m missing out on the new second Megaman crossover they’re doing. (Oh well, they’ll probably rerelease it in paperback compilation books like the first Sonic & Megaman crossover in a year, or so.)
 
I hear the “Sonic Boom” comic is going to be cancelled soon however, but the Sonic, and Sonic Universe comics are still going strong. (As well as the compilation reprint books which sell very well.)

It’s still kinda surprising considering writer Ian Flynn (writer of the Sonic comics sense 2006) said he doesn’t like killing-off, and reviving characters. (Every minor character he’s killed off has stayed dead. He doesn’t like to “cheapen” death to much.) Though, I guess that’s not the same thing as “fake-outs,” and such to keep readers on their toes.
 
I’m sure Rouge, Omega, and Shadow will be seen again in the main canon comic. (Heck Archie Andrews was killed off in one of the “Archie” canons.) Plus Omega in the comic is to amusing to get rid of. (I heard Ian Flynn is quite fond of the ax-crazy robot. He was the writer who introduced Omega into the series.)

Oh, is obviusly that they will get revived.  
I mean, come on, is Shadow the hedgehog and Team Dark.  
It is one of the motives Sonic will put back everything to normal, again.  
The issue 8 and 9 will be the part where the entire crossovers will happen, so get hype!

If you guys want to read the part where team dark dies, is in Megaman #50.  
Don’t expect a drammatic death. Is just a quick and explosive death.

Yeah, besides Ian being a Sonic fan himself in his youth isn’t stupid, and knows what the Sonic fanbase is like. (Having been a part of it.) He’s not stupid enough to kill off 3 beloved characters like that permanently. (Like I said, it’s probably just in this A.U., or probably just a fake-out. Kinda like what he did with Espio in #174.)  
Sonic fans would tie him up, and break his foot with a hammer if he did kill them off permanently.
 
The Shadow-haters would be happy though… (Admittedly, I used to dislike Shadow, but all the hate over him from older Sonic fans, and ex-Sonic fans made me a li’l sick of the Shadow-hate. Overall, I never really had anything against him.)

Yeah, Ian is apparently also particularly known for his Sonic fancomic, “Other M” (not to be confused with the Metroid game), which was apparently… not very good. Among other things, it apparently (I’m saying that a lot) turned Knuckles into a xenophobic psycho who wanted to kill all non-echidnas.
 
I think Ian has stated that he’s not particularly proud of that fancomic. And from everything I’ve heard about it, it’s easy to see why.

I remember that, I remember some fans were giving Ian some crap, and accusing him of trying to turn the comic into “Other M,” (which is odd, ‘cause the characterizations, and stories are nothing alike) back when Sally was roboticized, and stuff.  
Plus “Other M” (not to be confused with the controversial Metroid game) is basically an A.U. (hence “Other Mobius”) and not meant to be like the Sonic comics or games. So I don’t think that was a fair comparison. (Overall, I think Ian does a better job on making the Sonic series more Sonic-like then former writers Ken Penders, or Karl Bollers did.)
 
And yeah, Ian seems to feel it was too grimdark, and “adult” basically. I can kinda understand how he feels, ‘cause looking back at my old art, and such I feel they’re total crap. When you get older, you can be the biggest critic of your old fanworks.
 
Still, it’s kinda cool some Sonic fans are working on the Sonic comic now. (Artist Jonathan “Dubs” Grey was one of the first to achieve this.) In fact, fanartist ChibiJenHen (who has done some adorable pony art on this site) has done pencil art for the Sonic comic now recently.
