Not praising it but you have to admit, G4 really is lightning in a bottle. It is not an opinion at this point, it has become a fact. Hasbro can see this, I can see this, not all of you can for many different and biased reasons that we always inevitably fallen prey to, and yet interest was waning if at a snail’s pace because it’s still popular yet they know the steam is gonna die, so they’ll have to end it at some point. But when it comes to really successful ventures like let’s say Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, it’s not because there’s a winning formula, but rather it has always and forever in this modern times of entertainment, Luck. And unfortunately for Hasbro and many companies for that matter, luck is not something you can recreate: Bring back g4 as it was? People will complain, Bring g4 in a rebooted state? People will complain. Bring G5 and G4 together in some Ponyverse? People will complain. Make G5 a sequel to g4? People will, you get the idea. And even more sadly, G5 didn’t begin well due to many people in this community as a whole not limited to derpi, not even getting into it in the first place even if they’re the same people who turned their backs on g4 for whatever reason they think or because doomposting is cool no matter how serious they sounded, it’s not funny in the slightest but I’ll leave them to their own devices. And even disregarding those people and focusing on fans who do like g5, guess what? They’re just as splintered. Some came because they turned their backs on g4 but still liked pony so they bothered, some like the continuation to g4 but has little to no interest or just outright didn’t care about the side story that is TYT that is unsurprisingly waning even faster than g4’s imminent demise, and rarely I think a 1 digit percentage that is the “true” g5 fans like anything they put out and all if not most of them have absolutely no sense of criticism either because they are not born with or taught one ever or even just associate it as “hater” and the even more sad thing, those guys are also pretty ignorant that their ship is on fire because no amount of love is ever enough to put it out.
Still, it’s safe to say, all in all, MLP as a whole franchise is back to square one, like it always was.
