The moment he says this, Golden Gears trots back to the group, carrying a wooden crate with her magic.  
Golden Gears: Alright, this crate contains supplies and a few tools that should prove useful. There’s also a list in there so you can keep track of things.  
Bytes takes the crate in his magic and moves it over to him.  
Bytes: Alrighty then. Anything else?  
Golden Gears: Yes, a warning. You can go back and try again if you make any large mistakes, but there’s a chance that-  
Bytes: That it might mess up the space-time continuum, right?  
Golden Gears: Exactly, so please don’t mess anything up too many times. Understand?

Bytes: Well, I’m assuming they’ll think that whatever horrible timeline we created was the original. At least, until we tell them.

Bytes: Alrighty, so do you have a separate room for us to cast the spell in? We don’t want anypony taken with us by accident.  
Golden Gears: No, of course we don’t. And yes, we do have a room.  
She turns to a pine-green unicorn stallion reading some reports at a cubicle a few feet away.  
Golden Gears: Hey, Bismuth! Is the room ready?  
Bismuth: Hm? Oh, yea! It’s ready! You remember where it is?  
Golden Gears: Yea, I do! Thanks!  
She turns to the right and starts trotting to a hallway. She stops, looks at the group, and gestures them over.  
Golden Gears: Right this way, please. Oh, princesses, prince, would you mind staying back for this?  
Cadence: Not at all. Good luck, you guys!

“well, time to see if we can’t change history in the making.”

Bytes: Mm-hmm.  
The group follows Golden Gears through the hallway, to a door marked “Project Amethyst: AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED”. She opens the door and takes the group inside. The room is nice and empty, save for markings on the floor.  
Golden Gears: Alright, those are the markings needed for your spell, correct?

The pegasus looks over the room, noting the weird scribbles on the ground. “Wait, why the hell do you need markings? Isn’t magic cast through your horns or whatever?”

@Toffee  
Bytes: Well, when Starlight use Starswirl’s old time travel spell, she used the Castle of Friendship’s map as the base for it. So I decided to come up a design that would serve as our own base for the new spell. And before you bother asking how these ponies knew the design, cause I know you will, Celestia asked me to send her a sketch of it for preparations.  
Bytes looks at Golden Gears.  
Bytes: And yes, those are indeed the correct markings. Now, could you leave the room so that we may begin?  
Golden Gears: Ah, yes, of course.  
She walks out the door, but stops in the doorway and looks back.  
Golden Gears: Oh, do you need anything else before you begin? Anything at all?

The pegasus kinda just stared at Bytes. “Uh… I wasn’t going to ask you what they meant.” He then looked over at Golden, a small smirk on his lips. So, whatever we do right now wouldn’t be remembered at all?”

Bytes (in an angry whisper): Toffee, I swear I’ll kick the everloving fuck out of you if you even think that’s going to be allowed.  
Bytes looks at Golden Gears.  
Bytes: No, we’re good! Go on ahead!  
Golden Gears: Alright, good luck!

The pegasus considers this threat for a moment before smirking at his co-worker. “Eh, I’m willing to take the risk.” He would run up to Golden, wrapping her in his wings and giving her a kiss on the muzzle

Golden Gears stumbles back in suprise. She stands dazed for a moment, then giggles. Then she closes the door and leaves.  
Bytes: Oh. Ok, that was not what I expected. My apologies, I should’ve at least asked what you were going to do first. * chuckling * I expected something much more dirty.  
Bytes walks to the center of the markings.  
Bytes: Alright, can everypony make a circle around me?

rolling his eyes at the pegasus’ antics he trots over to his spot.
 
“you’re lucky she’s a generally lonely girl, that way it may actually work between you.”

The pegasus rolls his eyes as he trots over to his spot. “Hey, she’s cute and not gonna remember any of this, what did you expect from me?”

“you don’t want to hear my expectations, i keep hoping you defy them… in vain so far.”

“Ah shut the hell up you fuckin’ bug.” He rolls his eyes under his glasses and adjusts himself on the Circle.

the changeling says nothing else, though he clearly had a lot more to say about the wasted pegasus’ willful wasting of his potential.
