Sonic Discussion

Sorry to bring up Ken Penders, but I found an interesting recent interview with Ken Penders from last year at Sonic Revolution. (Which is basically the Sonic equivalent of “BronyCon.”)  
Putting aside my personal bias to him, (mostly for the things he’s been saying on Twitter lately) he gives some interesting insight on how the Sonic comic started, and such.  
Interestingly, he said Sega wanted to make a comic & cartoon for Sonic sense before the first game launched, as they wanted him to be in multimedia, to increase his popularity. (And it worked well back in the early ‘90s.)  
Penders also mentions he worked on the short-lived officially-licensed “Legend of Zelda” comic as a penciler artist, and almost got to work on “Defenders of Dino City” a comic based on a LucasArt’s video game.
 
Another interesting thing he mentions is an early humorous story Sega rejected by him was Sonic dealing with parody versions of the Mario Brothers, (kinda like the British “Sonic the Comic’s” Super Marxio Brothers whom appeared later) only they were dentists (instead of plumbers) but apparently Sega of America was afraid of possible legal backlash from Nintendo, (as they probably already pissed them off with their aggressive ad campaign) so they rejected it.
 
Still, you can kinda tell many Sonic fans are still not pleased with him judging by all the rambling during his talk.

I must be the only Sonic fan who doesn’t care about the comics.

I never had a problem with Shadow’s controls, I personally think Heroes had the harder controls.

How can you ignore the cutscenes? I personally love them and how amusing Shadow’s voice gets.  
I remember first time playing Shadow, there was a bug I found on that exact same level! I had like three Artificial Chaos left to destroy but one of the platforms was missing! My memory about this is somewhat fuzzy but something was missing and once I committed suicide at the last part of the level, I kept falling and the background of space turned into nothingness. Just Shadow and Maria falling forever.  
I wasn’t sure if this was because my copy of the game was too old or not but I was very frustrated. I ended up re-doing my all hero mission route and once I got back to the last area Lost Impact(or whatever the level was called), all of the set pieces were restored.  
Yeah, that mission is really annoying but I think Mad Matrix’s Dark Mission gives that mission a run for its money.

I don’t know, I’ve accidentally walked over cliffs more in Shadow then “Heroes.” I prefered “Heroes,” as the only main problem with it I had was the giant crocodile chase, and the rail grinding levels. But even I got used to those.  
The spindash was kinda hard to pull off though.

Shadow controls like he’s on ice, I’ve had my fair share of unfair deaths because of it.

The first time I played the Shadow solo game, I hated it. However the more I played it, the more I came to enioy it.  
I actually think if it was in development longer, or had more bug testing, it would’ve been a great game.

Does anyone here ever think of the restrictions that SEGA did to Archie when they went through with the reboot?

Holy Cow I really love Sonic Mania’s soundtrack. Definitely one my favourites in the series so far.

Oh no, I didn’t have a problem with it, he was just practically foaming at the mouth the entire video over how happy he was with it, it was more entertaining than informative

And honestly it made me more anxious for the game :P

FINALLY “Boom” brings back another character! (And one of my favorites.) It’s nice to see a game character, besides the main ones appear in it. I like his jacket.

After all the flack the WiiU got, (honestly, I liked that console better then the others currently on the market, even the Switch) Nintendo needs all the support they can get. If I get a Switch, I’ll definitely get “Mania” for it, as well.
 
I hate to rant, but still think it’s unfair “Disney Afternoon Collection,” and “Megaman Legacy Collection 2” aren’t coming to any Nintendo systems… (They’re retro game compilations, that ironically are mostly games that appeared on past Nintendo systems, so there’s literally no reason they couldn’t work on the new ones, even 3DS.) Almost makes me want to join the Capcom-hate crowd…  
(Yeah, I know they gave Switch “Street Fighter,” for retro gaming bliss, but honestly I suck at those kinda fighting games where you have to memorize tons of button presses. I never understood them. I prefer more simple ones like SSB & Punch-Out.)
