Did you happen to read the Siege arc yet? Because Chrysalis pulls sort of the same thing as the Joker: She frees Twilight & Company so that they can deal with Sombra, while she (wisely) takes her swarm elsewhere.

I’m with you there. I’m ambivalent on Sombra’s redemption here. To see yet another villain redeemed would be too much to bear. Chrysalis is the perfect candidate to remain a sociopath.

Most of your complaints with the exception of it being rushed I’ve already given explanations to. There were reasons Radiant Hope kept her emotions close to her vest around the villains, she really didn’t want the villains to succeed and she wanted Sombra to be both revived, change, and restore the peace again. There’s reasons she chose grudge-holding neutrals who would abandon the scene quickly, was because she didn’t want them to stay.

?? I don’t understand this statement at all. I don’t think these two sentences belong in the same paragraph.
 
Anyway, back on the point, Starlight had a moral goal in mind, a warped philosophy with a few actual good points, but her personality while taking revenge was if she was trying to personify Dio freakin’ Brando. Since her revenge and her philosophy was mostly unrelated(the finale was only payback afterall) her mentality towards things shifted in ways guilt would not normally do. It wasn’t the worst, but it was still pretty badly rushed.
 
Hope’s reform was well transitioned because we could see she was a good person from the beginning, doing a risky, underhanded but long-term heroic(mission to set everything right in the end) way of solving things the whole time. There’s the face she showed Chrysalis and the other ‘villains’ (which was a farce), the face she showed Sombra, (which was honest but tactful since she didn’t want Sombra to push her away) and the face she showed the heroes(which was completely open about motivations to fix everything).
 
She is a believer in a belief she considers kind to others, but also subtle, clever and willing to break a few rules. That combination is similar to Starlight, except their personalities and levels of ‘evil vs good’ are exact opposites.
 
And as for it being rushed, they had a lot of content and important conversations and development to cover within the constraint of 4 issues. One of the few complaints about Reflections that I agree with was that it felt rushed during certain issues in terms of content pacing, and they could of split the 2nd part into 2 parts, and the 4th and final part into 2 parts as well. But again, constraints.
 
I hope we can agree on this common ground :) And as for the rest, agree to disagree?

Not that isolated. I can’t say I like this overly much. There were things I enjoyed, such as the silly combat moves.
 
Silly in a good way. It’s possible they didn’t quite fit the mood the Umbrum’s horrific (also in a good way) appearance created, though giggling at the ghosty is a thing in FiM.
 
But it was so rushed in parts. And because it was rushed, it came across as the characters not putting in the effort they should have in order to reach a satisfying ending, Radiant Hope especially. Even Starlight Glimmer had a harder fall when she was faced with the devastation her actions caused in the future. It was rushed as well, but we had a chance to see her go through the stages of grief. After Hope got her boyfriend back, I’m not even entirely sure she showed she cared much about anything else.
 
Plus, there’s the other villains of the promised team-up sort of vanishing into thin air. The comic probably would’ve benefitted from not including them at all, since that would’ve freed up more time to focus on Hope and Sombra. They were the stars in this story.

I see. Just keep working on your drawing skills. I might have spent less time, but I kept pressing the pencil into the paper, so I kept wasting the stuff.
 
As for making your art get better, do like I did when I started getting serious, what All Artists started with.
 
Use an object/another picture/a Ref sheet of a character to better your skills, like if you enjoy drawing certain characters, use them as models, but Don’t copy the art style. Just make sure they look like the character you like, make sure they’re still recognizable as a pony/furry/human/alien.
 
Of course, if you get your hands on a How to Draw book, (How to draw Manga’s a good option.) either by buying, or, if you can’t buy it from the shop or it’s not sold in your country, borrow it from the library.
 
That book shows how to draw characters from basic shapes and basically, simplifies what would otherwise have been a nightmare for first time artists. It helped me, so it’ll help you get better as an artist.

I know that, I read the discription, checked the comments, kinda hard to miss.
 
However, I also noticed how you didn’t like drawing it.
 
Still, drawing isn’t something you can half-ass in a minute or two. Takes thirty minutes for it to fully come together for guys like me. I’m still a novice, but I take care and appreciation in drawing.
 
In a sense, when you’re designing a character that’s truly your own, it’s like watching the birth of one’s child… Minus the shock and fainting spells that some wimps suffer from when they see a newborn pop out of a woman’s baby maker…

I didn’t say I was forced I was talking about my past with a friend and he said it would help if I put it to paper then he convinced me to post here after he saw it that’s it, I didn’t draw that picture to get upvotes or praise I don’t even enjoy drawing I don’t plan on doing anymore it was just a coping thing at the time.
 
Also since it seems to have gone over your head the picture was of me ponified and my father.

You know, I think the viewers would like your art better if you made it so that it Wouldn’t put someone in needless pain for no good reason? And don’t say that someone forced you to draw it. If they try to make you do something you don’t like, say “NO!”
 
I mean, you may say you suck at art, but I got quite far with practice. Frankly, this is a drawing I made quite a while back, way back in 2012.
 

 
Frankly, I would have posted another sample, but most of my other works are either SFM, (No Ponies, so I can’t post any of them here for the moment.) or 3D blender.
 
Still, point is, your drawings would be better if you start off by reading a few how to draw books. The image I posted above was made in 2012, three years ago. I’ve since improved my art style and my main problem is figuring out What to draw.
 
Still, if you pick up drawing again, start off with a either whole image with a few people or a reference sheet. Comics, I don’t recommend, since you’re trying to draw several panels and linking them together into a story. I can’t do that.
 
Also, try and lay off needless harm to. It’s very uncomfortable and would put others off your art. And don’t let people force you to write/draw something you don’t like. Some of the good artists actually write in their main website’s journal about what they Would find acceptable to draw when they’re commissioned to.
 
And my last piece of advice? Just play your strengths, build them up and have fun doing so!

…Or, you can still have Queen Chrissie be evil, yet show that she has standards, like having limits to who she kills/leeches, being disturbed by a more heinous villain’s act on another pony/Equus Race. etc. etc.
 
Long story short is, make Chrissie a villain, yet also show that she has limits to her evil. Make her evil enough so that she isn’t just a woobie, yet give her standards so that she’d stand out among the moustache-twirling villains, racist mad scientists and Mindless Evil abominations.
 
I mean, there’s actually a case in DC and Marvel where when the Joker found that he’d been tricked into working for the Red Skull, he actually pulled out a gun to shoot him, while telling his men to back down!

If IDW or the show ever does give Chrysalis some more character, I would hope it still aligns with her being an fucking evil bastard.

Really, and how much of Chrysalis character have we actually got?
 
All we know is that she popped in, tried to take over Canterlot and steal all the love from Equestria.
 
And that’s it. We never get a reason, she doesn’t stat that her kin are dying or that her Hive’s the only one left. While I agree that IDW handled her poorly (A villian through and through, really?), the canon series was not much better.
 
There’s only one time we see her return, and it’s in a “Bad Future”, where we likely saw Zecora and Fluttershy die in the changling attack! (I also found that the last two episodes of Season 5 were poorly handled. I mean, They gave Starlight Glimmer a freidan excuse to be redeemed! I mean, she knew Twilight and her friends were the Avatars of Harmony (why else would she keep their marks separate from everypony else at the start of Season 5?), she knew how much damage she’d cause by stopping Dashie’s destined Rainboom (Out right stating that whenever Twilight leaps back in time, she’ll always be a second ahead of Twilight. That means she knows what she’s done would affect the future and didn’t do anything!) and even when having it slammed right into her smug face, she still wanted to stop the Rainboom! after knowing the aftermath! And for what? To get back a colt who probably just wanted to use her to rise up!? If there ever was a Renegade option to stop her, I’d gladly hammer it. Hopefully with bullets.)
 
Anyway, the sad fact is, only the Fans actually care enough to give Chrissie a real character other than “evil miss overlord”. I would, but I’m working on other things and trying not to get distracted from writing.
 
Just a question though, what have you written? Can you link it? And please Tell me it’s at least good with proper spelling and not a hideous wall of text.
 
No offense, but after scouring for good stories, only to find glimmering hopes dashed by horrible spelling, walls of text and bad plots, I’m actually kinda tired of searching.
 
Oh and just so you know, I’m a fanfic writer. Still a rookie and I have no Beta, so story process is very slow. I would have posted art by now, but I lack a scanner and phone cameras don’t cut it for me. Also, If you ask be to do digital art, I lack a tablet, and I suck at drawing with a mouse.
 
And no, I’m not going to ask my mother to be a Beta. She’s rather… Testy about Fanfics with a mature elements (Typical). Don’t ask me to do excessive gore though. I’m not that sick.

IDW chrysalis is the opposite of a well defined character she’s like a team rocket villain she act like a bratty child compared to show chrysalis.
 
The arson comic do I even need to say anything about this it was one of the worst and was ironically written by Whitely to fix the “racism” issue he had with Dragon Quest only to make it even more racist.

I have tried to make art and stories and I know how hard it is I lack the talent to do it but guess what it’s not impossible to write something logical and well rounded if you can’t do it maybe that’s not the best career choice.
 
Also the whole do it yourself thing is a horrible excuse just because I can’t make beautiful art or write a comprehensive story doesn’t mean I can’t criticize it what would even be the point of having fans if they couldn’t?

I’ve actually seen Movie critics make nicer comments on Box Office Bombs. IDW is just trying to give FiM a little more dimension than just “Friendship and Magic saves the Day, yaayyy!”
 
I mean, it’s fine for specials, but once those are done, They need padding, and we’ve already seen the result of some of those diasters. No offense to those who like episodes like Trade Ya or Rainbow Falls, but we’d already seen some of those chracters solve their Flaws in an earlier episode! Why is Fluttershy back to being a doormat? Dashie’s already a reserve Wonderbolt! She doesn’t HAVE to represent Cloudsdale!
 
IDW Villains are more Genre savvy and padded out along with the heroes, the heroes are actually flawed and can either work them out or find the advantage in it (looking at you Putting your Hoof Down and Trade Ya!) the bad guys actually have a character other than “Generic bad guy over here!” and most importantly…
 
…Background characters have their days in the limelight! They can be heroes just as much as the Mane Six. Hell, even the Princesses show what the Hell they do when they’re not sitting on the throne and looking pretty!
 
They don’t need to wait four seasons to get their development, They get one at least once every two non-special comics! Hell, we even have princess Luna and Spike working together to deal with a case of arson one comic!
 
Also, before you shoot your mouth off, IDW has made many comics, from TMNT, Marvel and More! If you wanna whine so much about what the writers and artists work so hard to do, do us and them a favor:
 
Make. Your. Own. Story! Draw them the way you do, write their personality the way you see it! See how much effort the artists and writers had to suffer to get this far, to make the people happy, only for jackwads like you whine, winge and bawl over how their Favorite Pony made a mistake that any living, sentient creature under a metric ton of accumilated stress would make! If you want Twilight to be a “Perfect Little Mare”, buy a bloody robot, program her to be Twilight and watch the flamin’ fireworks.
 
If you don’t like it, it’s fine. Don’t scream it for all and Sundry to hear! Nobody cares! I care because I subbed to find constructive comments, not bitchy ones! I know they say “Don’t feed the Trolls”, but I’ve heard of cases where trolls have mentally worn good writers and artists to suicide. The sentient mind is a fragile thing, and I do not want to see a good artist die, just because a troll wanted to watch the world burn. Sometimes, the only way to stop a troll, is to throw all their insecurities right back at them, but never egging it on, never being a constant harrassment, never using proxies. Knowing the grey Line’s limit.

I occasionally offer counterpoints to criticisms that I feel are unfair, but I personally don’t give a shit what you or anyone else think about the comics. I just see a lot of “GRAH IDW IS SHIT” type comments all over the threads here mixed in with actual valid criticisms, and like to offer my take.
 
Unless I directly address you, you shouldn’t take my comments as being directed at you.
 
If you want to actually see the comics improve, complaining about them here certainly isn’t going to accomplish anything. I doubt any of the writers are masochistic enough to hang around here. You need to open a dialogue with them directly, and offer them something more than “this sucks.”
 
If that means buttering them up with some compliments before offering criticisms, so be it. You’ll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
