So here’s a couple of interesting cinematography details I noticed. We get a couple of high-angle shots from Tempest’s viewpoint. We see these whenever she uses something granted to her by The Storm King, and the shot is of a character she either has captured or is about to capture.
So the verse
“Open up your eyes
see the world from where I stand
me among the mighty
you caged at my command” is reinforced through the cinematography itself.
Another interesting detail is that when Tempest confronts the Ursa, we get a low-angle shot from her perspective. Then it switches to a high-angle shot from the Ursa’s perspective, just before Tempest loses everything. Then, when The Storm King betrays her and she again loses everything, we get a similar shot/reverse shot between Tempest and The Storm King, only it’s in the third person.
While we’re on the subject of the climax, after The Storm King betrays Tempest, they’re both flung backwards, and Twilight has to choose between getting the staff, and saving Tempest. Her choosing to save Tempest is her atoning for choosing the pearl over her friends.
