Yeah they might adress the Sunburst issue, hopefully flesh it out a bit.  
Bats! is ok by me.

I thought Bats was a good episode except for the part where Fluttershy was full of $#!+ and completely wrong.

Wasn’t fond of the song, myself. Not that it was “us against Fluttershy”, moreso the lyrics seemed to be forced into the instrumental unnaturally. Very discount-Danny Elfman.

Full Price Danny Elfman does that often enough– in Nightmare Before Christmas especially– that it didn’t really bother me.

Yeah, the Bats song took villain designation to a whole new level. It tried way too hard to make us believe Fluttershy was in the right and the others were wrong, even though her unreasonable bias was obvious and busted in more ways than one. It felt like all DHX focused on was designing Flutterbat and making sure she looked “Awesome”, with mild concern and effort towards everything else.

I think it should be mentioned that the event that led to Sunburst getting his cutie mark was from trying to save Starlight from those falling books. He at least cared that much for her at that time.

I have an odd feeling when I see Cheese Sandwich in shipping and fetish artwork, since hes is basically a pony version of weird Al. In fact, I have that a lot in cartoons where a character is basically an animated version of themselves.

I consider season 4 better than season 5, and season 1 better than both.

It’s the opposite for me: I consider S5 better than both S1 and S4. Aside from the ending, I enjoyed S5 more than S4.

To me. Ponyville by this point somewhat represents the show squandering opportunities t expand on their world. The more I see it, the more depressed I get.

I have to side with Jades here, honestly. The writers can’t seem to balance characterization and adventure/world building very well, and I’m very much more concerned with the former when the show itself is character driven, like MLP is.
 
They can do it, though. Griffonstone was an example of this in some ways, but they fuck up a lot more than they don’t, from my recollection.

Characters already have enough development. I just want to see more lore. I don’t care about the lessons. They can do that stuff in many other episodes.

The reason why they are failing on adventure episodes so much is probably because they weren’t given enough room to do adventure episodes.

Though really, at this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if the movie fails to introduce any new locations whatsoever. Not counting alternate timelines, S5 introduced five locations- Griffonstone, the castle library, =town, Glimmer’s hometown, and wherever it is Trouble Shoes lives. Those and the outside of Diamond Tiara’s house, but that was introduced in the comic and probably appeared even earlier. We were promised twice that, at least.

I am willing to sacrifice getting development in favor of something like world building. I draw the line at botching the way the characters act in terms of behavior, dialogue, etc., though.
 
If the writers can do this without fucking it up, then I’m all for it. I just don’t think they can do it without fucking it up 4 out of every 5 times is all. If an episode has botched characterization, especially for a character I like, then it’ll be a 6/10 or 7/10 at best for me.

They’ve fucked up many times with characterization in those episodes that I don’t even care anymore.

I’ve also noticed that nearly all the new areas explored in season 5 are all recent season 5 introductions such as Griffonstone, Equal Town, and the Twin Mountains that weren’t really on the maps before season 5. Like they’re pulled from the ass or something. We have yet to explore many of the unexplored locations that have either been marked on the map or implied in the past seasons.
