I’m honestly surprised no one claims that Indigo Zap might have been the female Shadowbolt, but the colors are off.
 
For me, they were just a fabrication created by Nightmare Moon to deter The Mane 6 (hence why only the female one talked) not actual individuals.

I think she’s Neighsay’s niece or granddaughter. And while she was sent there to spy and eventually ruin the school in the first place, she won’t be able to go through with it. But I’ve avoided spoilers so I don’t know if it’s already been contradicted in later eps that leaked before Discovery Family’s official airings. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.

Per the wiki, the Shadowbolts captain was officially named Shadow Surprise. I’ve seen that other places too, but it wasn’t cited and I don’t really know where any of them got that. One comment on a discussion board suggested maybe the Gameloft game.

I thought so too. Twilight was keeping the students under control and prevented them from getting too suspicious and Starlight was well, the guidance counselor and trying to do her job.

It would not at all be out of character for Equestria to have a royal appointed position of Time Lord, a Pony with some special talent for controlling/sensing/understanding the timestream who’s tasked with preventing malicious misuse of time travel and providing warnings of upcoming disasters so Celestia can send a letter or two and make sure her private special forces rapid reaction team is nearby at the right moment. Time Turner could even be the ninth Pony to hold the post.
