I know you don’t mean it this way and were likely joking, but I am very quick to shut down any talk of “not everyone should vote; there needs to be an IQ test.”
For one, IQ tests are limited in their ability to actually measure things like critical thinking and reasoning skills - it only measures ability to recognize and memorize patterns. For two, this kind of talk is EXTREMELY similar to supporting the Jim Crow era “literacy tests” that were used to disenfranchise Black voters back in the day.

I’m not giving up.
This is evidence that not everyone should be able to vote.
A simple IQ test should be needed.

At this point the pee tape being real would be less embarrassing for Trump. At least then he’d have an excuse.
Edit: and while on the subject of “not at all surprising news, those Trump bibles were made in China.

Chile though also has heavy US involvement cause the previous administration tried to nationalize assets owned by US corporations which let to sanctions. All the protests were funded by the CIA though they were genuine. The US did encourage the trouble in Chilé but also wasn’t totally responsible. However they were very much responsible for the disasterous economic policies of the pinoché dictatorship. This was entirely on councul from American economists who would came to be known as the Chicago school. While on paper some economic numbers did go up in practice in terms of people’s living everything went downhill.
The whole “liberalization” was really just a thinly veiled way to undo the nationalization and to hand control of Chilé’s natural resources back to US corporations. This is important cause many of these principles were later on imported back to the US and implemented under Ronald Reagan. Which includes dismantling any interests that are not shareholders, violently suppressing labor unions and letting powerful corporations dictate the economy rather than having them serve it.
This system the was first tested in Chile is in many ways still the economic system we live in today. Just like in Chilé the US on paper is richer now than it has ever been but when it comes to reality it has countless people in poverty and Covid showed it’s incredibly fragile with any disturbance being a disaster.Economically Chile was absolutely not successful. They increased GDP numbers but when it comes to people’s actual living standards and the level of autonomy they have it went downhill hard. Chile’s economy was a success on paper only and there was also a lot of forgery to hide just how badly the economy was going. Cause there were many powerful corporate interests who wanted to see it succeed. That letting corporations rule was better than having them serve. While in terms of violence there were worse dictatorships I don’t think any has left a legacy as strong as the Pinoche dictatorship of Chile with the only possible exceptions being Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany. However even with those we don’t live under a Fascist dictatorship nor under a state capitalist system. However we do live under a neo-liberal oligarchy just like what Pinoché helped establish in Chile.

Yep, something like over 100 ballistic missiles came down on Israel today. Heard the news chatter coming back from my lunch break. Apparently that last salvo they sent over a month or two ago was just to test Israeli air defenses, and they’ve learned how to overwhelm them.

I suppose I wouldn’t mind having an electric truck… if I could afford one and I had a home charger and enough amps to my house to support said charger and it could fit in my garage and I never needed to drive more than a couple hundred miles.
Electric vehicles involve too many compromises. I’d rather have a hybrid. I quite liked the F-150 hybrid I test drove last winter. That truck was a mighty beast. If it wasn’t too expensive I’d have bought it.

This scene in LazyPurple’s How it feels to play Heavy has been living rent free in my head for years. I’ve always wondered if you could survive this situation or if the mini sentry’s DPS outpaced the sandvich etc, and I never bothered to test it myself in-game.
So I checked the wiki and did some number crunching based on the scenario. The sandvich heals for 300 across 4.3 seconds, while the mini sentry deals a max damage of 55.5 per second - or 222 damage in that same time give or take. So yeah, in that time the Heavy would heal a net 78 seconds.
But would the Heavy have enough time to destroy the sentry after? Well it takes like .9 seconds for the Heavy to begin firing his stock minigun, and let’s say damage falloff means it’s doing its minimum DPS at mid-range for 48. A mini sentry has 100 health, so a Heavy would take approximately 3 seconds to destroy it from rev up to finish. In that time the mini sentry would manage an additional 166 or so damage.
So from sandvich to finish it would take the Heavy 7 seconds to destroy the mini sentry, assuming the mini targets the Heavy as soon as he starts his eating animation. That means it’ll deal an approximate total of 389 damage.
Not taking into account other variables like different miniguns or the mini starting to damage him before he starts eating, it would mean any Heavy that started this situation with 89 or less health would die. Any Heavy with more health will barely make the cut.
It finally also means LazyPurple died here.

Project Prometheus
Based on/inspired by: https://derpibooru.org/images/3426527?q=twilight+sparkle%2C+hospital
Project Prometheus was an attempt by the US government to harness magic and become the most powerful nation ever to roam the Earth.
In Time Immemorial, the titan Prometheus stole fire from the Gods, and gave it to humanity. In the 21st century, Humanity wants to take a new kind of fire for itself. You see, humanity had been aware of Equestria for some time. However, they could never harness any magic, and every attempt to trace it ended in a dead end. But then, a mishap with the mirror-portal ended with Twilight entering the human world in pony form, being subsequently captured by the US. Sunset and the others attempted to rescue her at a hospital, but this failed, and Sunset was taken by the military for questioning. In the meantime, Twilight was removed from the hospital, taken to Project Prometheus’ headquarters: Facility 12.
Facility 12 did not appear on any map. Only the most trusted government and military personnel were allowed in. Security was tighter than Area 51. Inside Facility 12 was an experimental “magic reactor”, a device designed to generate magical energy. This energy would either be converted into electricity, or used for experimental “para-tech” designs, including weaponry. This reactor barely worked, if at all, there were only 5 test activations, and on the fifth, the reactor nearly went into meltdown. They needed knowledge to improve the reactor so they can put it to use. And a saving grace was found. Twilight, being an Alicorn, was a perfect specimen to learn from.
After enough poking at her, they knew enough about how to generate magic. They made the necessary modifications to the reactor, and activated it. It was a success. The reactor worked flawlessly. A few hours after the activation, the girls would attempt to break into Facility 12 to rescue Twilight again. They succeeded, but the President, who was personally there in charge of the project, allowed them to leave, as they had they wanted: fire from the Gods. As the new “wonder-weapons” were built, the President wanted a trial by fire, a show of force to demonstrate how America is now the most powerful nation in the world. Afghanistan was chosen because of the disastrous retreat, to show that where others may fail, Project Prometheus will succeed.
Meanwhile, as far as the girls were concerned, nothing major was happening, aside from a few rumors, until a press conference was called at the White House. During the conference, live footage of US Army troops entering Kabul with Prometheus para-tech. He was showing to the world that what took years for previous administrations, will now take weeks or days. America was now the most powerful nation - Any war between the US and others would certainly end in US victory.
I imagined a few ways this story could go from there:
-
With the US now possessing para-tech and magic, Equestria would attempt to sell magic to Russia and China, in an attempt to level the playing field.
-
The President declares martial law, and America becomes a dictatorship.
-
Celestia would intiate formal first contact with humanity, giving magic to all humanity and warning of its dangers.
What do you think?

Being gay, and being a member of a fandom are two very different things.
Being gay, and being a member of a fandom are two very different things.
The thing about the internet is that people only see what you reveal about yourself. You control what gets a reaction out of you; you pick your battles.
The episode was a test. The correct answer was to not take the bait and give a reaction. But the episode successfully baited people into telling on themselves. It tricked grown-ass adults into admitting that they actually care what a cartoon for children says about them. It was funny, because the people who fell for it were the exact people you would expect to fall for it.
This is made especially funny by the fact that this was a rare case of CWC not falling for something.

Instead of going with a pragmatic solution based on data and experts they go with the time tested strategy of “protecting the kids”.

Call it nostalgia but I still fondly remembered how it began. But alas, just like real life, the g5 fandom is just as divided. All came for very different reasons. Some only liked the one single movie and nothing else. Some like only both movie and MYM. Some like everything. I came or joined rather (not a defection) because I am genuinely intrigued by this same yet different world and to see Sunny go beyond her world on adventures. However, none of that happened. And since Misty came, the other 5 has changed so much, Izzy is back to being a Pinkie clone given what she’s doing to Allura last episode, Hitch is now a stay-at-home dad with nothing better to do than look after Sparky even though everyone else is an ideal choice for babysitting Sparky because I would also love to see Posey and Sprout’s antics with him, Pipp is still the same as she was, Zipp now now has become bland due to not wanting to explore or having an apparent infinite time to decide on being her mom’s successor and Sunny, ooh boy, she’s the biggest offender of all, she’s now Applejack if she had Twilight’s powers and also forgot that she had them much like Twilight.
And if all G5 is doing is to wrap up the current arc and nothing else:
-We never got to see other non-pony races (and by extension, Changelings and zebras and Violette) in MYM form.
-Adding to the above, we never even get to see them in TYT form. I don’t know if the problem was that they can’t decide on how they’ll look or that their design is too similar to Prixy05’s and they didn’t want to copy them. Or that there’s no reason to visit them at all. Or that they refrained because the Young 6’s debut so called made this into My Little Creature which I think is a bit of a stretch to just not do them. Or budget issues regarding MYM.
-Sunny despite BOTH her parents being into rediscovering the world, is very uninterested in doing so now. If you ask me, she’s not the same Sunny as she once was. And it’s not helping that the lack of motivation for doing so is simply because she doesn’t know everything G4 like Flash Magnus. Sorry for the spoilers but yeah, she doesn’t know Flash Magnus. I get that some parts of history is lost but it just sounded like the entirety of G4 wherever it’s stored burned to the ground. By extension, Zipp lost interest too.
-Never mind finding out what happened to the old locations but because of Sunny’s apparent unwillingness to venture out, we don’t even get to see this new world anyway.
-Not exactly important at all but having callbacks using Sunny’s supposed knowledge would be awesome. But you know, despite what Mayor Mare said in episode 100, none of them mattered even once in this new world. Not even a small one.

You know, everyone else thinks the comics are inferior to the show back in g4. Well? The tables have turned, because give IDW credit, at least they bothered and gave a dam to expand on this new era like it or not. If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have gotten Violette, the zebras, Milkyway, Tracy Tailspin, Raneigh, the apparent evolved or native seaponies. Heck, even Discord finally moved on and now sooner or later, Zipp will finally make her decision and test her resolve as the soon-to-be queen. If anything, let them have it.

Speaking of California, Gruesome Newsom has announced a bold new strategy for tackling the homeless crisis (besides making it illegal to be poor, which he has). How will he do it? Will he address exploding housing costs and the perverse incentives driving them? Will he take the “housing first” approach that has been very successful just about everywhere it’s been tested (then forgotten about since we need the threat of homelessness to keep people in line).
Nope! He’s gonna use AI machine learning to do it! How? I don’t think even he knows - some Silicon Valley execs just backed a truck load of money into his driveway and that was that.
As the person on Bluesky who shared this said: “If the Democrats want to maintain a country that is nominally democratic, and not an outright oligarchy run by fascists and business, they must break with the Californian neoliberals. Newsom is speed running a techno-fascist fever dream.”
