Unpopular opinion time (super alpha no pony edition)

No matter what this year’s April Fools gimmick will be on Derpibooru, I really hope it’ll not be like last year’s one. To be honest, despite the positive results of my team, it tired the fucking shit out of me, and I felt enslaved by the manic desire to constantly post in order to gain points

Edit: On the bright side, I did get to know a few nice users through the event

I do be honest these different types of AF gimmick these guys put on annually represents all the known fun and tomfoolery we could possibly come up with and acts like an escape from this shithole of life we usually face.

Last one was admittedly taxing the more it went.

I do admit I was trying to get the team to win but over the time it felt so tiring I kinda stopped trying.

I guess I was glad we had an April Fools that feel like a game rather than just roleplay or banking on a trend. Maybe next time it’ll be something different.

Honestly Im not really into reviving pixel era for pokemon. I grew up with that era sure but I’ll tell you when I was growing up playibg Pokemon Gale of Darkness on the Gamecube, I would have given anything to have Platinum or Emerald as 3d games.

I know the recent 3d pokemon games have had their flaws in animations, but I do think that 3d isn’t hopeless. I liked how X and Y and ORAS looked for instance.

It’s kind of like wanting Final Fantasy VII to just be a pixel game just because the 3d graphics looked unrefined.

Yes, fandom merch is really fucking expensive(unless you are talking about some obscure black metal project with a total listener count of a small European village in which the merch prices approach something that can be called reasonable), and it’s not unique to any single fandom
T-shirt prices are USD$25 if you’re lucky, usually they are USD$30-40, jackets and sweaters are even worse and the pins are straight up daylight robbery

And then there’s anime figurines, the less said about them the better

All this to say, you really should only buy them if you want to give extra money to the creators as a “keep up the good work” or “thank you”

Or you can be like me and say “fuck the price I want it I’ll get it”

Probably better off with the former than the latter

Isn’t that what fanbases already do? I see a lot of beloved content creators and small animation studios announce merch and you have a lot of people clamoring for them because of how much of a fan they are and they want to support their creators.

I feel like the term “lost media” is used too loosely. It should be reserved for situations where a piece of media is well and truly lost, because no known copies of it exist, or were destroyed. Media which does exist, but isn’t accessible to the public (because it’s sitting in a police archive somewhere, for example) should have a different term used to describe them.

The Omori fanbase notably bulks at Omocat’s merch prices

Which, while they aren’t wrong, Omocat’s prices aren’t that expensive compared to other fandom merch

Undertale has similar merch prices, Arctic Monkeys does too, as does Love Live

I think a lot of the Omori fandom aren’t in other fandoms so they don’t realise that merch prices across the board are daylight robbery in general

I spent 60 dollars on a print of the main characters from Kyatto Ninden Tyeeande/Samurai Pizza Cats doing the Bohemian Rapsody pose and never looked back.

Hell, I almost spent 300 bucks on a full metal replica of the sword Varian and Audiun wield in WoW. It even separated into two swords. The misses talked me out of that one.

That sounds like a trap that I would fall into, impulse buying stuff over and over without realizing what it could do to my bank account.

I have an entire room dedicated to my various collected odds and ends from over the years. The misses made the mistake of giving me free reign to decorate it as I saw fit.

5 entire book shelves and a display cabinet.

I priced it once, market value for everything there was like 12kish.

As a person that judge Pokemon mostly based on appearances, no you’re not.

So there’s this YouTube channel I just discovered called Chadcat and what they do is take those long YouTube videos by big creators and condense them into a few seconds by explaining what the main points are by calling them the “ADHD Version”. I’m so glad I discovered this channel cause there is no way in hell I’m watching those long, clickbait-y type videos with a lot of fluff in it. I don’t suffer from ADHD and I can sit through hour long videos just fine as long as they’re entertaining enough for me, but I don’t have time for those big, showy videos that are likely clickbait and a big waste of time

Encanto is the one Disney movie I think that deserves to be milked. It has so many characters with cool abilities and glimpses of backstory.

Frankly I think this movie probably deserves a series more than Tangled did back in the day. Even if that Tangled sh9w was good, it didn’t really need expansion. But Encanto I think could use it.

It’s amazing Disney can give all these remakes these days, but they can’t even give a spin off show to a pretty popular recent movie.

Encanto is completely forgotten as the most recent Disney win after all the blunders they have made. People are so focused on hating Disney it’s like they didn’t even make Encanto. I’m always like “But Encanto is right there. It’s not that bad.”
