So everyone in Equestria suddenly gains a can of white Monster and mows their lawn while complaining about how things aren’t as good as “the old days”?

I gatta ask, where does this term “boomers” come from? Because every time I hear it, I think of “baby boomers,” which was a much farther back generation.

I read that, and I have no idea what that means. Is he going to turn them into the generation of people who took all of the drugs, danced naked on a music festival, listened to loud blaring hippie rock, rejected and burned disco records, had children and are now ruining things in our country by doing the very things they rebelled against?

On the internet, most people use the phrase “Boomer” they are normally refering to people who where born between the 1980’s and the 1990’s

I’ve never been able to really like the Flim Flams. They just never had the charisma to justify them being the most recurring antagonist to me.

They sure seem like the most successful ones around, with that whole complete immunity to consequences and literally being able to put up a con anywhere and anytime with only main characters being able to stop them. They can only do cons, and main characters are always in the right to stop them from doing so.
 
There was an annual Christmas comic which dealt with that obnoxious aspect of them through having AJ and Twilight come to terms with the fact that there’s no such thing as a perpetual moral high ground, that if you come to dehumanize someone and always see them as villains you might miss what little good they’re providing, in that case them taking Christmas shopping up to eleven followed by Twi and AJ self-righteously shutting them down hard with an anti-consumerism message that pissed off everyone.
 
This was the kind of depth we needed to see Flim & Flam episodes showcase, that they can have a place. Sadly, despite the countless opportunities of teaching AJ a lesson about taking others for granted, we’ve kept being shown that doing so is a-OK when it’s these guys.

The manga had a chapter where the brothers were more or less used that way- in fact they don’t even try to con ponies, they simply used a special Apple Family event to draw attention to one of their own, but to sell legit hi quality products (tasty, exotic fruits) and the story’s main conflict came from one of their fruits not being what the Flim Flam brothers thought it was.

Yeah I remember that, I almost found the Flim Flams worthwhile there. Mostly due to the reactions surrounding them instead of themselves: Twi and AJ knew they were conning everyone and spent the issue ruining everyone’s fun because of it. But then it turns out the townsfolk knew they were being conned - they just liked the merch enough to not care. That’s an interesting angle to take.
 
It’s just that I ended up liking stories like that in spite of the Flim Flams. It’s weird to explain, but I can find myself liking their actions, liking their plot importance, liking the interactions around them, etc, just not liking the Flim Flams themselves somehow.

Well, TBF, there is a whole “30 y/o Boomer” meme/lifestyle/thing going around, it seems like. Usually popular among conservatives, unsurprisingly, it appears.

They’re slimeballs. Not liking them is a feature. Plenty of people like this IRL. Some even get elected president. Having them occasionally accidentally do the right thing or at least a not-wrong thing is what qualifies as an interesting twist on their characterization.

“Baby Boomer” was like somebody born after WW2, basically a person whom grew up in the hippie generation. So calling the ’90s generation “Boomers” is actually rather confusing.
