To be fair… the only season I find “overrated” is the S1. It has the highest percentage of weak eps, and even only a few of the good ones can be compared to the ones of the recent seasons. S2 is perfrty comparable with seasons 4 to 9 (minus 6 which is quite weak as well).

While I liked S1 (I became a brony thanks to it back then, so I don’t wanna put it down too much) I do much prefer Seasons 2, 4, and maybe episodes from some others, as well.
 
S1 was good, but it had flaws, as well. Heck, I remember one fan insisted “Cutie-Mark Chronicles” wasn’t canon in his mind, so even it’s good episodes aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Just because other shows have worse seasons doesn’t excuse that FIM has its share of below average 26 episodes. Yes, those shows have it worse but FIM isn’t perfect in itself

Well, its official. I am losing hope in myself over the show.  
Since the newest episode has a glaring continuity error AND the fact that I found out that the current writers never even watched the earlier seasons, I have never been in a worse state regarding my time as a brony. I’m already dealing with enough bullshit in my life right now and the fact that I can’t even look at MLP’s future without seeing my trusted friends who I thought would stick with the show till the very end just bail out is heartbreaking. And the fact that I can’t talk about my problems with my other friends because they don’t want to watch the leaked episodes is torture for me.

I don’t understand why Seasons 5 and 6 of the original Powerpuff Girls are so hated, Spongebob had a few good episodes here and there during his dark age, Family Guy can make a clever joke on rare occasions but lacks the heart that even Modern Simpsons has, don’t know what to say about Fairly Oddparents since I have never seen Wishology, and nothing is wrong with the Teen Titans Go show itself. Just Cartoon Network’s scheduling with it.

I know the fan who you’re talking about. I bet he would lose his shit even more if he saw the concrete evidence that it did happen with Season 5’s finale.

Just asking: you’re not overexagerrating this only because Lightning Dust is not gonna get a redemption right? I mean I’m disappointed myself about that, and I do agree about that continuity error and all but… all of that never entered in my priorities to begin with. The finale is my main priority right now. All I want is a satisfying ending for the Mane 6 AS GROUP. Jim Miller said so, and so does seem to do that finale trailer. Plus, the episodes related to THAT arc have been among the best of the season, so on that regard I’m good.
 
Don’t get me wrong: I can feel your disappointment in Lightning Dust not being reformed and Rainbow Dash not having a satisfying ending compared to the other Mane 6 or even other secondary characters, but maybe you should… change your approach. I’m not asking you to be more positive, but I ask you to at least give the finale a chance.
 
And for the record: while we had continuity errors in episodes 15 and 21, it doesn’t mean that every current writer don’t know a darn thing about the show.

So what? It doesn’t change my point anyway. What I’m saying is: none of the seasons of MLP can actually be considered BAD if you think wisely.

It’s called “subjective opinions”, my dude. I personally don’t like Season 6 and Season 8 was a very weak season, but I don’t consider what I say fact, just my thoughts on it.

Asd, I find ironic you don’t like the S6, when it was the season that started your beloved pair….. (one thing I never understood about the reception of S6: a lot of people hated for how it handled the Mane 6, and yet the episode that treated them the worst, the finale, is beloved by them… coherence… really…)
 
And I never understood, and will never understand what people find of so weak in S8. Yeah it had a few stinkers (Non-Compete Clause, A Matter of Principals and Yakity Sax above all) but aside those I find it perfectly in line with the best seasons…

Its part of the reason but the reactions from the community about each episode also effect my mood. Not to mention my earliest brony friends are disowning Season 9 because of Celestia’s and Luna’s retirement! One of them got really pissed off about the amulet Celestia and Luna made to store their raising/lowering powers. To him, it felt like the show was saying Celestia’s and Luna’s jobs have been rendered moot.
 
I’m already giving the finale a chance, but I’m expecting the worst possible outcomes with the mood I’m in right now.  
If I was a writer for the show, I would have double-checked my script and consulted with the other writers to see if there aren’t any possible continuity mistakes.

Again: it couldn’t have gone otherwise. Twilight taking Celestia’s and Luna’s place was what Lauren Faust wanted since the very beginning, so like it or not, the retirement was supposed to happen since the very beginning. Same for the amulet thing: with Celestia and Luna retiring, how is Twilight supposed to move the sun and the moon? Besides, there are a lot of powerful artifacts in Equestria, so I don’t find so unbelievable that Celestia and Luna managed to create one that could replicate their powers.
 
Also…..you’re making my same mistake here: when I fell in depression for weeks because of the S6 finale years ago, was mostly because the community. I hated that finale, and I would have hated it regardless, but it was the way it was received that depressed me. I saw more and more people wishing for more episodes like that and to remove the Mane 6 from the show, and some of those… were friends of mine… or at least I considered them as such.
 
Now I understand why you were so negative over the second half despite the only effectively bad eps were episode 15 and 21 (the latter only because of the continuity error because as standalone episode is actually pretty good): you let the vocal opinions of others getting only, just like they did to me. If that’s the case, let me give you an advice: when the show ends, I suggest you to leave the fandom behind, make order in your mind and find your opinion on the various episodes. I’m gonna do the same.

Personally I think S1-5 as a whole are what really define the show and where it peaked. While I love season 7 enough that I consider it my favorite season, it’s sandwiched between some of the series lowest points. Heck while I actually like season 8 enough that I prefer over S2 and am willing to defend it, I can’t deny that it’s plagued by a lot of problems that really hurt S6 and S9 imo

Welp, too late to save the show’s mainstream potential.
 
I guess it’s time to face facts and accept that MLP will never get past the niche, unpopular phase. And MLP will get rebooted with a movie that won’t have Twily and her friends nor what made the past series special.
 
At least we have the fandom, but… who am I kidding? They’re not as professional as Phil Lord & Christopher Miller or The Russo brothers.
