So. Anyone up for talking about today’s episode? I quite liked Iron Will. I’d like it if he returned, you could get a good moral about honesty and honoring the spirit of agreements out of an episode with him and AJ.

It was nice to see a workable, legitimate reason for Spike being absent. It’s always nice to see him being helpful and supportive, and I was very very happy when Twilight said he was part of her family.
Night Light and Twilight Velvet were enjoyable too. I guess we know now where Twilight’s obsession with keeping this organized and tidy comes from.

This thread just doesn’t seem to have the “buzz”. I guess everyone’s watching the leaks now. There goes the rest of the reason too.
Episode was fine. Poor Twilight, though. She should have taken the microphone earlier and explain the passengers what was going on. That she would spend some time with them, but her family would come first.

I never thought we would be getting a top 5 episode in the last of season 7, never the less outranking Parental Glideance.
This episode was just so enjoyable all the way through. I actually think I like Twilight’s parents more than Rainbow’s.

Well, might as well put this here because they are not gonna shut up about Starlight for months.
I’m glad they explained why Twilight’s going without Spike. He’s competent when he needs to be, and he’s so in tune with her needs. Although I’m still skeptical, we’ve never seen Twilight’s princess duties, and due to the show’s writing, Celestia’s never gotten a break in eons.
Wow, that’s quite a surprise seeing Iron Will back. He’s not a bad guy, but he’s still an antagonistic force. I think it’s hilarious that the big takeaway from Fluttershy’s assertiveness was ‘Don’t include a satisfaction guarantee’ in the contract. He’s not a con artist, he’s legally right, but morally questionable.
I would make a joke about you know who, but the jokes are just so easy, I’m not even going to go near them.
I’m also glad to see princesses not named Twilight or Luna get some development. Although I honestly would like to see more out of Cadence, Shining, and Flurry, what we got out of them was fine.

OK, now that the leaks have returned, I guess I’m migrating back to this thread for the remainder of the season.
And this thread is sadly relevant again…
There’s a distinct part of me that wishes the rule applying to leaked screenshots of the the movie applied to the remaining episodes, but that’s probably wishful thinking on my part. Plus I suspect it would probably be a bit harder to apply with so many people apparently eager to spoil the fun. It’s a pity too, because I was quite happy we had so little information about the finale aside from the brief synopsis, and now it’s once again going to be a daily struggle to avoid finding out all the details and plot points prior to the actual release. I suppose we at least have the benefit of knowing there are only a few episodes remaining in this season, but it’s still pretty frustrating overall.

I think we got surprisingly good characterization all around this time through. Twilight being Twilight, Spike confirmed as part of the family (and absent for a good reason, and apparently really well versed in Twilight’s mannerisms), more of Shining and Cadance, more of Cadance actually giving good princess advice… honestly, this was all really on point.
I’m kind of inclined to think that the best part was getting to know Twilight’s parents, though. Odd that the two ponies we’ve actually had a model for since season one are the last of the group to get any sort of characterization. Still, better late than never, and I think they make an interesting pair. I got a good chuckle out of her mom being this competitive, thrill seeking, adventurous type (which makes me wonder if she’s responsible for introducing Twilight to the Daring Do book series), and her dad being the kind of bland but loving guy who likes order and organization and apparently is really enthusiastic about BINGO.

Night Light’s and Cadence’s magic auras are the wrong color, Shining’s horn isn’t lit and it obviously can’t be Twilight since she didn’t know about this surprise.
