@MadVillan
The whole episode was pretty much the ultimate collection of lampshades, headcanons and common points of conflict in the show. Sort of a more serious version of Slice of Life, which nailed the coffins of headcanons, this one did the same for more technical aspects like the comic’s…. troublesome relationship with show canon and typical shitstorm-inducing material. Too bad many are
still gonna get a “H8ERS GON H8 LOLOLO GIT DUNKED ON TEARS SO SALTY” lesson out of it, but hey, it’s not like their minds can be changed at this point.
I’m glad this episode was done, I mean, many series have this episode where past deeds are brought up in order to reflect on how things changed, and while it
did get a tad self-indulgent at times, it’s kind of the point to go with the theme. And hey, Starlight was in the episode and I was
still able to watch it, so that’s proof it got more right than wrong in my book. Or maybe that was also the point, to show that it’s possible to feature her without fucking up the plot as a result. One can hope, one can hope.
