The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Background Pony #EE75
Unlike Teen titans go, the original had a good balance between comedy, drama, and action.

His point was that neither the comedy nor the drama in the original show were even that good to begin with, and I can vouch. The Terra arc in particular was sloppily handled; you don’t just make a character into a full-blown villain after just two episodes of being a good guy and expect people to swallow that.

Plus, the action, design and animation are the same bland Korean-sweatshop stuff as every other superhero show out there, just with added anime-posturing to drive the whole thing into obnoxiousness.

The fault on Netflix’s part is they never say “…no, we’re going to have to decline on that”. Which frankly is driving me up a wall at this point. Essentially taking tablescraps and acting like they’re meals.

Netflix is becoming the Steam of movies/tv shows and let me tell you that’s something you don’t want to be.

I’m “blaming” that they have no sense of quality control.

People have been quiet about this for too long, and turning a blind eye because some of their favorite shows are on the service. Well I say no more. If Netflix is going to let garbage be greenlit, then I’m going to be the one who bites their ass when they do.
Though, yeah, the show itself is more Dreamwork’s fault than anything.

I think people just like to blow things about of proportion with the the stuff on Netflix.
More often the stuff people call the worst, other then a few case, is just meh, I’ve seen some of these things and they are not as bad as I keep seeing them made out as
This is why it’s a bullshit to act like there is no quality control on it.

Hell I keep seeing stuff like the new Magic School Bus being bashed on and sure it’s not as good as the original but it’s still decent.

Hell i think it’s bullshit to say people are being quiet about this for too long or turning a blind eye as I have seen a lot of people talk about bad things on there, but they don’t hound Netflix over it because it seem they DO have quality control and the worst is not as bad is in other places(like TV networks and theatrical movies).

@Prof.NightJack
That’s coming down to the wire of taste, which I’m not going to debate.
But from where I’m standing, there’s a lot a shows that are either bad or lazy that have the Netflix seal of approval.

I want to know who approved of something like Neo Yokio, or Kong: King of the Apes.

The closest thing I can see them for quality control is not putting their obnoxious branding on the Woody Woodpecker movie.

Hohoho…no

Where do you think Netflix is getting all their movies and tv shows from? Hm?
Do you think they just happened upon the newest Cloverfield movie? Or Bright? Or Death Note?
No. Those were projects that studios threw away because they knew they couldn’t make a profit in theaters so instead they offered to throw to them Netflix to make up any potential profits lost.

On paper, what Netflix is doing is honorable because there are a lot of tv shows or movies that get passed by because tv execs are out of touch putz’s who don’t know a good thing when they have it. That’s what happened with Trick R Treat not being released in theaters and instead being buried and pushed to direct to dvd two years after it’s scheduled release. But in practice? Companies are just using it as a dumping ground for the projects they know are going to fail, or well known mockbuster studios like The Asylum to put their trash now that rental stores are dead. Even now, I see people praising the new Lost in Space tv series despite all signs pointing to it being…well pretty bad. If nothing is said about this, its only going to get worse.

Do we really know how much control Netflix has over the maiknig of them?
And giving the percentage of bad, to decent, to good on it do you really think it’s fail to act like it’s all bad based on the worst?
Hell it seems like Netflix is to it’s stuff like a publisher is to a video game, they put it out but that doesn’t mean they control it.
fobone

@Prof.NightJack
I never said they were making them.
I’m saying they have control over what does or doesn’t make it their streaming service and what they attach their names to.

Of course Netflix can’t police every little movie and tv show they get, but can decide what products they’re associated with. Again, this is the same thing that happened with Steam not too long ago, they were a respected and loved source of gaming both independent and AAA, and thanks to that same mindset and willingness to put literally anything resembling a game on their front page they’re now a source of anger and riducle and serious independent developers have second thoughts about putting their work on their site, because it’s “too much of a gamble”.

The same thing could happen to Netflix, it’s already happening, it’s not there yet but it very much could. And for all my bile and snark, I don’t want that for them.

Here is how I see it.
  1. If a show is bad then why is it bad?
  2. Where does the blame of that reason lay, the makers, the distributors, ect?
  3. Is it just that part to blame or is there another?
  4. How do we react?

    But it seem people look at 1, skip 2, say “blame everyone” at 3, and go overboard with 4.

Well maybe I have seen too many of DreamWorks Animation’s things get turned into somthing annoying that I don’t see the blame on who they work with to get it out, but them for not doing a good job.

I mean most time it’s when they have something good they bleed it and it suffers, if they have somthing mediocre they bleed it but not as much, and if they have something bad they might try again.
Few things have not suffered in some way like that.
