Steven Universe’s character flaw is how much of a pacifist he is. Like Cell once said, “You’re not a pacifist. You’re a coward.”.
 
Star Butterfly is a good character but the story just sucks, especially all the love triangle crap.

The universe is to Steven what the DBZ universe is to Son Goku. It’s pretty much designed for his specific tastes and talents, and thankfully threw him a happy helping of being horribly OP just to ensure that even his stupider decisions don’t screw him over too much.
 
…I love both shows to be honest. It’s not a bad thing, and it provides a narrative and tonal purity that helps a show stand out from the crowd.

Well that’s not a bad thing either. In fact I’m a firm believer in the utility of ‘Main character does cool shit, moves plot along, and remains relatively stable emotionally’ and ‘side characters go through emotional torment, get shat on by the plot, and leave you wanting more’.
 
Your main character being too emotionally complex risks the show getting excessively heavy or depressing. I mean imagine if it was the Pearl show. I’m emotionally exhausted from a single episode of her regular emotional breakdowns.
 
Optimus Prime, Izuku Midoriya, Tanjiro Kamado and Goku are generally not quite as dramatically interesting as those around them. This I feel is intentional.

Incidentally, I’ve always found Izuku to be one of my least favorite parts of MHA.

i think it’s more bad writing, you can have a deep interesting character with tons of development, or at the very least spread the love better, i mean imagine how shitty Marceline’s story would have been if they were required to always have it involve Finn but Finn is also boring, that’s why i feel Adventure Time is the better show, it gave the main cast there own spotlights instead of being way to infatuated with the MC,

Ironically, I think for me he might be a little too complex. He’s sometimes so hesitant and lacking in moral strength that he slows the pace and the action down. He seems to be rather popular with women though.

Reminder that Steven instantly forgives genocidal cosmic conquerers 5 seconds after almost being killed by them/watching his friends and family almost be killed but has undying hatred for a guy who once disrespected women.

Am I the only one who feels Lila Rossi is the worst in Miraculous Ladybug?
 
I don’t think she should die, like some haters, but I do see her an unrepentant, pathological liar, who doesn’t care who she hurts or tears down as long she gets what she wants, while otherwise being a toxic person. And when called out on her bullshit or her lies revealed, Lila doesn’t reflects on her actions but instead treats it as an offense to get revenge, tries to act like the victum… Even willingly being re-akumatized and lashing out on Paris for the consequences of her own actions.
 
Finally, while I am not against a redemption arc for Lila, I do feel she needs a huge reality check and genuine guilt for her actions, with a willingness to not only apologize for her lies and behavior but be willing to accept the consequences and put forth real effort to actually earn the trust of those around her. Instead of her actions being excused or minimized, where given her excessive lying it is shouldn’t be easily forgiven or otherwise going unpunished.
